Bottom line is the girl is 18, and adult, having sexual relations with a minor, against the parent’s wishes. The parents went to the police, reported the crime (its called statutory rape) and requested action. This happens in heterosexual relationships, too…
Want equality? You got it.
By Badge, Phone & Email: Here’s How Obama’s DOJ Snooped on Top Fox News Reporter

Badges that also serve as electronic key cards are used to control access…which includes recording ones comings and goings; hardly see how it is illegal to access their own security system records, especially when you signed up voluntarily…and given that we have no constitutional right to ‘privacy of location.’ Access records are used more often than you think…
Personal phone records and emails are a different story, but I suspect the access records were used to justify the warrants.

C’est La Vie! Thousands of Wealthy French Taxed More Than They Earned
May 20, 2013 at 4:24am
Personal income tax is confiscatory by its very nature; the gov’t is directly taxing your labor, the sweat of your brow, the means by which we all live. It is, in effect, modern indentured servitude with no release date. Modern serfdom is probably a better allegory since we must pay everyone from the local lords and vassals all the way to the King and his court in DC for the privilege to earn a living.
Of course, we then take it a step further and make the tax ‘progressive,’ severely penalizing those who make more (as if paying the same tax rate on a larger income is not paying more taxes). This system targets and treats individuals differently and should be anathema to all who embrace the concepts of equality, liberty and justice.
Let’s move towards removing income tax altogether. The first step could be a flat tax with no credits, exclusions, exemptions or deductions (which are all primarily favoritism or subsidies for specific groups). Make $1, pay 10 cents. Then we can shift to a national sales tax and drop income tax altogether.
Nay sayers will point out that the rates for a flat tax or sales tax would need to be too high…but that is correct only if the gov’t remains bloated. We must reduce the size of gov’t concurrently with tax reform, turning the control of many aspects of our daily lives to the States and individuals, where they belong.
Report: Hofstra Student Was Shot, Killed by Cop Trying To Rescue Her
May 19, 2013 at 4:24am
Tragic sequence of events. My hearts bleeds for this young woman, her family, her friends and for the policeman (he will have to live with the young woman’s death for the rest of his life). Another life snuffed out too early due to our failure to keep criminals off the streets. Numerous arrests cited, as well as parole so I know he did time. I take it NY does not have a 3 strikes law?
Regarding the police officer, bad situation to be in and I will reserve judgment pending investigation…too many people make assumptions early on based on their own personal bias, or based on inaccuracies in the initial reporting…learn the facts, think about it, then comment.

Teacher’s Aide Could Lose Job Over…Her Homemade Lunches
May 18, 2013 at 5:40am
When I grew up, most kids brought lunches from home. Govt thought the PB&Js, etc, were not nutricious enough, so they started pushing for eating the cafeteria food. Than, at least, it was made in kitchens on-site. By the time I was getting out of school, they had closed the kitchens and gone to a contracted centralized kitchen that trucked the food in. Quality, variety, nutritional value and food safety dropped. When my kids went to school it had gotten worse to the point where fast food restaurants were selling food on campus.
Close the Department of Education, break the teachers union and privatize education.

Please – a $2500 fine for a toddler urinating on private property? I understand why she is pissed (pun intended).
Keep in mind, Freedom of Speech only protects you from the Government. Employers have a right to limit that freedom as a condition of employmet (and almost all do). If your actions, speech or postings are contrary to the conditions imposed, lose your job. Simple as that.
As I told my kids when they were growing up…think before you speak, then say what you want…just be prepared to accept the consequences.
These Are the 4 Most Important Takeaways from Today’s IRS Hearing
May 18, 2013 at 5:09am
An organization with too much power, too much reach and too little oversight…and now adding 16,000 more agents to enforce healthcare mandates. Yep, this’ll end well for you and I.
The IRS, like many other gov’t bureaucracies, needs to be controlled and pared down.
The first step is tax reform, throwing out the patently unfair ‘progressive’ income tax which taxes people for working and earning money. Of course, the tax code is so complex and riddled with subsidies and political pork that nearly half of American pay nothing at all, leaving it to the rest of us to pay more. Everyone screams about the rich needing to pay more, but why don’t we get the 47% who pay nothing to start paying their fair share?
We need to look hard at fair ways to tax…national sales tax, for example, would be much better. Everyone pays, and those that spend more pay more. A simplified tax code with no need for the average Joe to file tax returns, etc. This alone would reduce the IRS behemoth to a manageable level.
True, a national sales tax may not raise revenue to fund the gov’t at the same levels we have now…that is one of the goals…to shrink federal gov’t to the point where it provides only the functions and services we need…return most functions to the states (where they belong), deregulate to allow competition, and restore individual liberty and resposibility.
Read the Ad One Mother Posted on Craigslist in Attempt to ‘Adopt Out’ Her 3-Year-Old
May 17, 2013 at 4:20am
I disagree with the classified ad approach, but why can’t she give up her child? Sounds like she wants to do what’s best for son, just went about it the wrong way.
Maybe she should have turned the boy over to the gov’t so he can go into foster care where he is likely to be abused and or neglected by people pulling in a large paycheck for having him (and yes, I know there are good and even great foster homes out there, and have a friend who provides excellent foster care). Then, in the unlikely event that someone wants to adopt him, the corrupt system kicks into full gear and the ‘price’ the government sets on the kid is so high that most people can’t afford it, and even if they can they find it will take up to a year to get him (yes, I have been through it…told I would need to shell out about $20K for lawyers, screenings, inspections, applications and fees, etc.). What I never understood…if taxpayers are shelling out $1000 per month, wouldn’t adopting out the child without expense to the prospective parents save money over time? And since it would allow more people to be able to afford to adopt, wouldn’t that result in fewer children in the system? All these do-gooders can scream “think of the children!” all they want…in the end it is all about money and control.
See the Biggest Alligator Ever Harvested in Texas
May 17, 2013 at 3:56am
Lived in Texas for quite a while. The alligators were doing so well in the wildlife refuge that they were expanding beyond the refuge borders and hunting permits were required to keep numbers in check. Heck, I had a nearly 8 foot one in the drainage pond behind my house.
Was in New Orleans recently working near an alligator farm. I can tell you, alligator sausage is fantabulous!
Over hunting is bad, but a properly managed hunting program is necessary to properly manage the wildlife numbers in many areas. Don’t think so? Numerous cases when gov’t banned or restricted hunting…recall one regarding deer in a touristy area…population increased and everyone is so happy to see ‘bambi’ all over…until a harsh winter came along and they all starved to death, stripping bark off the trees to survive. End result was fewer (and sicker) deer and a damaged forest. Relaxed hunting restrictions shortly after.
Managed hunting, especially trophy hunting, also provides income for the community (travel, hotel, restaurants, gear, permits, etc.) so that maximum benefit is achieved by virtue of the wildlife management program. For those that hunt for sport only and do not eat the meat (I do not know any myself), donate it to a homeless shelter (oh, that’s right…gov’t doesn’t allow that…better to let people starve than feed them fresh meat without gov’t inspection).
