Called up a few buddies, apparently it’s not actually a drone design, but a computer shoved into spare helicopters from 1991.

It’s because open carry makes you an immediately recognizable threat in many situations where you may need a gun, and therefore makes you a priority target to assailants.
There is an argument to be made that open carry can prevent some of the situations from ever occurring, but it’s a give-and-take. Personal preference or contextually determined. You would want open carry walking around at night, concealed carry in a crowded mall.
Not sure about Wisconsin law on the matter, though.
