Say Cheese! Some States Put Drivers’ License Photos in Facial Recognition Database for Law Enforcement Use

Morgue shot! haha My husband definitely looks like a convict. Yes – it was very hard for me to not smile RD – I pretended to be mad about the thumb scan. ;) They didn’t tell me that they would be using facial recognition. It seems like people should be notified that it will be used.

In Texas, we can’t smile in the pic and we’re also required to have our thumbs scanned. Refusal was not an option.

I’ve just started looking for Civics curriculum for my homeschoolers too! I think this would be a perfect addition.

Want to See What CSCOPE and Common Core (Even Homeschooling) Lessons Look Like? These Parents Opened Up to TheBlaze

I have done both, and I agree that homeschooing independently is a very different thing. It really doesn’t help the narrative to not consider educating through a charter/online/cyber school homeschooling. I was educating my children at home in both situations and their education was daily/hourly/by-the-minute directed by me. It would be better (in my opinion) to be positive about any home education. I was still able to discuss many differing opinions while teaching the curriculum from the school (and skipping a couple that I did not approve of.) I do highly recommend homeschooling on your own and choosing the curriculum taught to your child.

So true! I am so happy I made the decision to homeschool instead of using public education at home. There is a difference. My kids have a couple of years before they graduate and it is reassuring to hear success stories! The children of my homeschooling friends have had no problem getting accepted into major universities. In fact, they have been pursued by many!

I homeschooled for 5 years through an online public school, but was still unhappy with the curriculum. The beauty of independent homeschooling is that you can choose which curriculum you use. I use a wide variety of curriculum and spend hours every year researching the best for my kids. Pearson is watered down education injected with social commentary (especially their Math books!) Some of my best texts (especially Literature) were copyrighted many decades ago. I make it a priority because I think the value of education hinges on excellent curriculum. So many people are concerned about how much money is thrown at education, yet people fail to understand the importance of a good solid curriculum!

If someone doesn’t show after 10 minutes (or15 if necessary), then seat other paying customers. Post it as a notice & tell people when they make the reservation that it’s the policy. Posting customer’s names publicly is unacceptable.

Kudos! I experienced the same support from my children’s elementary school 7 years ago when I pulled them out to homeschool them. We haven’t looked back since! It’s very time consuming to review and select curriculum, and it’s also pretty expensive. Yet the benefits FAR outweigh the negatives. Nothing compares to an education tailored to your child.

I’ve homeschooled my kids for the past 7 years and made the decision based on curriculum issues. My kids are incredibly computer savvy & my son writes a Tech blog! It has been one of the biggest positives of homeschooling for us. They’ve had time to learn incredible computer skills – mostly on their own! I love that they can learn & pick up skills like basic coding so quickly. There is incredible curriculum available, classes/workshops/coops available depending on your area, online courses, dual enrollment with local community colleges at the high school level and many other opportunities!
