Whomever left the first set of human footprints in the soil or on the beach of the Western Hemisphere discovered it. And, since people were thriving in abundance in the New World during all ages being debated (Columbus, Marco Polo, Vikings, Polynesians, Chinese, ad nauseum), none of these “discovered” America.
As ThinkThenDo (Sept 26; 2:35 pm) states, Columbus’ voyage changed the course of history. As a consequence, he gets the recognition of “discovering” America.
Your answer's better than mine. I thought it was prescription eyeglasses.

Be nice. Ugly talk puts you on the level of things that crawl out from under rocks.
I admire the bloggers who manage to say what’s on their minds while taking the high road, not the gutter. GONZO is the only one who’s managed that (as usual). You others don’t hold a candle to him, though your miniscule minds swell at the thought.
Like her or not, Megyn gets ratings or she wouldn’t have the timeslot. No slot lasts forever (unless you’re O’Reilly); they’ll change as people fail to watch.

Having been in publishing for over 35 yrs, I can assure you that this was not a “technical glitch.”
The person (editor, managing editor, illustrator, layout designer, or publishing supervisor) responsible for APPROVING and moving the advertisement forward for printing should be fired so there is no second chance for such an egregious error.

I’ve decided to wait until all the facts are known before mouthing an opinion.
Good idea. Now if only the media outlets would obtain all the facts before reporting them.
You're both as cynical as that "listens2glenn" idiot.

Sorry folks, I’m not buying the statements that his insurance wouldn’t cover this (after all those years?) and that the doctors wouldn’t perform surgery (when the tumor was still small and knowing the larger it got, the more risky the surgery???). Anyone believe that, and I’ve got a tropical island in Greenland to sell ya.

Good for Kayla who didn’t allow herself to develop a victim’s mentality and wait for someone else to fix her problem. … with the caveat that what she did was not a stupid or dangerous solution.
It’s a good idea to make some distinguishing, but hidden, mark on your items (other than the serial number) so you’ve got proof of ownership. Every piece of my outdoor equipment is marked just in case it “grows legs.”

I’d give this cat a home in a heartbeat if it’s a true Savannah. All the acreage it wants to roam during the day; inside at night. I’d need to raise the birdfeeders… but not a bad trade off, cuz I’d no longer have a squirrel problem. You think?

Never touch anything metal (fence, metal gate, wire, latch, spigot, etc.) when lightning is in the area.
For some reason, it can hold a surge of current.

Cut “Ravenrois” a break, folks. I’m a stickler for correct grammar. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve met some people who had bad teeth and smelled like a skunk, but who were absolutely brilliant in their knowledge of politics, science, government affairs, and historical matters. Even if Ravenrois doesn’t fall into this category, please don’t destroy this person’s willingness to express himself.

Fat people AND those that enable them to remain fat always give the same excuse: thyroid problem or genetics.
The answer to losing weight will always remain: EAT LESS, MOVE MORE

Police ARE trained to expect the unexpected. But they need to know about additional danger if the 911 caller can provide it (and doesn’t hang up before the dispatcher can get it). A cop can be ambushed at the end of a long driveway or while passing an out building on the way to the home where the caller has suggested he/she needs help. If the caller knows someone is waiting to ambush or is a psycho, that needs to be said. This could save a life, like at 4:00 a.m. when a cop or deputy has been on duty 12 hours…and needs to call for backup before approaching.

Don’t always agree with you, CATB, but you understand this situation perfectly.
