so why do flightless birds have wings? why the leg bones in modern whales? why do humans have a tailbone? your deity of choice has some very strange design ideas.

Twin – why do you assume i’m tiny?

allow me to clear up some of your misconceptions:

    - not only did we evolve from apes, we still are apes.
    - humans do have new abilities – we’re taller and live longer, for starters.
    - all species are evolving, currently. that we don’t necessarily witness the change in speciations speaks to the time frame involved. it may take 10,000 or even 10 million years.
    - have you ever considered flightless birds? how about leg bones in whales? or vestigal tails in humans?

i think what you’re describing is what’s called “simpleton’s disease”. go see a doctor, or better yet, pick up a book.

actual scientists don’t notice a difference. there is no such scientific thing as macro or micro evolution. that’s for anti-intellectual theologians who want to sound all sciency.

so much ignorance. please, evolution deniers, stop going to the doctor. natural selection is the foundational principle of medical biology. so stop going, and we’ll be rid of you sooner than not.

you’re right, the keep christ in christmas billboard was directed at lots of groups – jews, muslims, hindus, atheists, wiccans, pagans, etc. it’s telling all those groups to go pound sand, that christmas is theirs and theirs alone. if that’s your feeling fine, but don’t get upset when others try to take the season for their own and completely leave mr. virgin birth out of our secular holiday celebrations.

” You let the foul ideas show themselves in full daylight, so that they can be open to just and righteous ridicule.”

if you think you have the high ground, consider that most of you believe in talking snakes and a rib woman. i’m quite comfortable in my position, thank you.

arson – because that’s what Jesus would do.

i understand that you godly folk aren’t used to hearing non-religious messaging, but you best realize your monopoly on messaging is over. there are simply too many non-believers to ignore, and we’ve been demonized in the public for far too long. it’s time to realize that we’re nice, normal human beings who have studied the evidence and rejected it as insufficient. we understand that you don’t share our conclusion and that’s perfectly fine. doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to foster an environment where closeted atheists feel comfortable leaving their faith behind.

momentum is with my side for a reason (pun intended). people have always questioned the sillier parts of religion, but now they have easy access to both the answers and others who are questioning. information has always been the key to dispel belief/faith.

the man was a con man who bilked thousands of people out of their hard earned money. i will not mourn his passing.

vofr – “it’s Christmas…” um, no it’s not. Christmas is December 25th. you’re 12 days early. right now we’re in Fox’s dreaded “holiday season”.

conservatives sure are learning a lot about their favorite hippie, Jesus, these past few weeks. first comes the Pope who is living like Jesus reincarnate, and you folks just don’t know how to deal with him yet. most seem to like him but i sense skepticism. now you find out that Jesus was a darker skinned middle eastern man who didn’t speak English.

skunk – obviously i don’t disagree with you. none of that changes the way this particular man is behaving. he is the living embodiment of goodness. that he (mostly) preaches what Jesus did is a feature not a bug. i don’t believe Jesus was the son of God but he had plenty of good advice for his fellow human. like Jefferson i can deny his supernatural features and praise the message. i just wish more of his followers felt the same.

well Grannie, the Pope disagrees with you. as do i. there simply isn’t enough charity to fulfill the needs of the people. we all recognize that poverty is never going away. it’s how we treat those impoverished that define us.

thanks foo. feel free to have better than a decent Thanksgiving :)

foo – it’s the stuff i like her at the Blaze. there are more atheism stories here than almost anywhere else on the internet (with the exception of atheist sites). sometimes i post on economic articles or ones about gays (i’m not gay but i’m fascinated by how religious people can’t accept them as decent people). i’ve met some great people on both sides of religion here so i keep coming back, for better or for worse.
