  • As an atheist, I think this is actually a stupider reason for a holiday than Kwanzaa. Inventing holidays to try to compete for relevance against someone else’s imaginary friend is just ridiculous, no matter who does it.

Besides; Christians have wonderful holidays now that they are no longer Christian celebrations. Let’s not kid ourselves guys… Jesus may be the reason for the season, but the pagans made your holidays a lot more fun. Hallmark, Cadbury, and Mattel really made them shine though. Strip away the Jesus myth, and there are still wonderful sentiments of kindness, charity, generosity, family, and community that make Christmas worthwhile. I think those are delightful reasons to enjoy a few days off from the daily grind any time. I don’t need to believe that an invisible sky fairy knocked boots with a Jewish hottie 2000 years ago to appreciate the humanistic aspects of the holiday.

So, Merry Christmas says I. I wish you all every good thing.

Knowing that the address for the Embassy of Afghanistan is:

    Priceless!

  • As an atheist, I just want to say that this has always been a ridiculous arguement. The Constitution simply states that the government cannot establish a state religion, and that it cannot choose to favor one religion over another.

As long as the government is fair in allowing any religion or atheist group to build memorials, I see no basis for this sort of hype. Personally, I would be happy to donate money for an atheist organization to buils a giant Darwin Fish memorial to the right of the cross for atheist veterans, and might even float a few dollars to a Jewish group to build a Star of David memorial on the left side for the Jewish vets.

It’s the darndest thing… when you PRE-pay for gasoline you don’t actually need any technology to make sure people aren’t going to drive off without paying… You just don’t turn on the pump until you have cash-in-hand. Been standard in the Kansas and Missouri for years…

I guess common sense isn’t that common in Michigan…

  • I don’t know about the GSA and don’t care enough about them to even do minimal research on this. However, I do know something about the history of the BSA.

When it was originally created, the BSA was intended to be open to ALL boys regardless of race, religion, or economic background. Sexual preference was not even in the equation. The idea was to instruct boys on how to be good citizens by teaching them to be a part of something greater, like a scout troop. The belief was that by being a part of a troop boys would learn teamwork and ethical values from their interaction with other boys. Overcoming obstacles in the outdoors would give them the experience and confidence to achieve great things later on in life.

    My how things have changed…

Today, boys are excluded because of their sexual preference before they are even old enough to have one, or sometimes even the sexual preferences of their parents. Scout leaders are forced to step down because of their religion and boys are not allowed to even participate if their parents personal morality or faith does not fall in line with a specific ideology. If you don’t already fit some kind of mold, then you are not welcome in the BSA.

They have become irrelevant. If thats the path the GSA is on then both programs should just be closed down and all public funding or special deals like the $1 99year leases for campgrounds on government land should be declared null and void.

  • Does that sign say “Do Come In All Welcome”? I bet that would be a great place to have a Tea Party. I wonder how the Occupiers would deal with a Tea Party gathering at their front door… or better yet, inside… Do you think the Tea Party would be welcome?

    Bwahahahaha

  • I bet if they replaced the plexiglass container with a garland covered noose and did an Ingrid Newkirk drop they could boost attendence… Betcha they could get Ted Nugent for that one!

  • This is what happens when courts allow illegal activities to be treated as political statements. I sincerely hope that in the spring of 2012 when this starts up again that city governments and courts will actually treat these idiots as the criminals they truely are.

  • Mama: Stay in denial all you want. I know that you feel the need to defend your belief. By all mans show me that exact passage that backs up your claim that the “certain young man” was Mark. I would be delighted to see you back that up with actual scripture. If you can’t provide me with chapter and verse on that then I maintaing that the Jeez was a poofter.
