  This is not about drink sizes, it’s about TAX REVENUE. If people can’t buy a soft drink larger than 16oz, do you think they will not drink more than that? Of course not. They will simply buy more than one drink. So instead of NYC getting 8.25% on the sale of one large soft drink at $1.89, they will get 8.25% of two (or three or four…) small soft drinks at $1.29 each. The numbers may not be large, but multiplied by millions of EXTRA sales you can see how the dollars will add up for the government.

  (I used $1.89 and $1.29 for example purposes. I do not know the actual prices of those drinks, but I think the point is made.)

  (And yes, the sales tax rate in NYC is that high.)

  then again, it could just be a play for more tax revenues, since everyone is leaving NY and they’re losing money. instead of buying one drink @ $2.89, you’ll buy two smaller drinks @ $1.99 each. so instead of %8.25 tax on $2.89, you’ll pay %8.25 tax on $3.98. it isn’t a lot, but then multiplied by millions of extra drink purchases… no snowflake in an avalanche every feels responsible!

  Talk about a guy with a Napoleanic Complex. What’s he? about 5ft 4in? He thinks because he’s rich he can rule the world. I live in upstate NY and I blame you stupid @ss city morons for letting this piece of feces change the NYC charter so as to allow him another term in office. Now you reap what you’ve sowed.

  And for all you fat b@st@rds who got behind the smoking ban – HA HA HA HA – now it’s your turn to have the health police on your @sses. Yea, that’s right. Did you really think they were gonna be satisfied with smoking bans everywhere and then stop there when they got that? You STUPID fools!

  After they get through with their plans for regulating how much you can drink, next they’re targeting what & how much you can eat. Then it’ll be how much sleep you’re rquired to get. (Oh, you think that’s crazy? Ask anyone who works, or has worked, in any occupation governed by the Dept. Of Transportation’s HOS rules. HOS means ‘Hours Of Service’, and these rules dictate how long you can work before you are REQUIRED to have so much time off for ‘rest’. In fact, truck drivers actually have to keep logs of exactly how much time they spend sleeping.)

  Wake up you ignoramouses, before every waking moment of your life is under some government entities control.

  What you all are missing is the pure, unadulterated RACISM of this story. You see, having trees in your neighborhood is RACIST CODE – a warning to people of color of what might happen to them if they step out of line. You doubt me? Look carefully at those trees and you’ll see they are all “hangin’ trees”, designed to warn and frighten people of color to stay out of those neighborhoods. It will only be a matter of time before Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, et al. will be announcing a march in those neighborhoods to raise awareness of the secret racist coded messages hidden amongst the trees.

  Truth Teams? In the same sentence with Obama’s name? Isn’t that oxymoronic? This whole administration reminds me of when the tanks were crashing through the walls of the Waco compound all the while loudspeakers were blaring, “This is not an assault.” Obama’s whole presidency has been crashing through the walls of America while also attempting to scream the same lie – “This is not an assault.” Only after the destruction and death of over 70 innocents did people truly come to know just how serious of an assault there was in Waco. Do the libs have to wait and see the destruction, ruins and rubble of our great nation before they come to realize that, yes, true indeed, is the assault hidden behind lies taking place on America?

  JZS – I listen to both Fox & NPR regularly. I do this because I want to get the news from both slanted perspectives. Each of these sources cover the same stories and, yes, each gives more time to one story or another. But do not deign to imply that NPR gives a balnced view (“Fox does little to give it’s audience a balanced view”) of any of it’s news stories – they do not. The stories they choose to report, the facts they choose to emphasize, the juxtapostion of their stories, the omissions in their reporting, etc. are just as biased, slanted, and designed to reinforce the liberals own preconceived ideas. All couched in soft-spoken, pseudo-intellectual, faux-eruditious, morally superior tones – to better foster the dellusional notion that NPR is a legitimately fair news organization.

  I listen everyday to them (for at 3-4 hours a day) and they ARE NOT legit. They are a left leaning propaganda machine.

  But I know you listen to and swear by them, so please forgive me if I’ve hurt your precious little liberal feelings.
