You are correct, we do have a huge gun violence problem in our nation. But it isn’t with lawful gun owners, so quit trying to restrict our right.

The majority of gun violence in this nation is by people who unlawfully have the weapons in their possession. There was a recent study in Texas (sorry, I’m on my work computer and don’t have the link readily available) that showed that in 2011 less than 1% of all violent crime caused by guns was done by legal registered owners of the gun. It was something like over 252,000 violent crimes and only 520 or some number like that were by registered, legally owned weapons. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and had over 500 gun deaths last year. The majority of those were gang or drug related.

The weapons are already here. We have the right to use them to defend ourselves. You do too, you just choose not to use it, but please, don’t restrict my right to do so. I don’t restrict your right to your opinions and your freedom of speech to verbalize them, even though on this issue we disagree We probably disagree on most things, but that is what made this country great; we both have the right to verbalize our opinions. Most liberals believe in freedom of speech as long as they agree with what’s said, but are quite to shut down others.

  • @sosorryforyou The problem with your argument is that there are many issues in that particular bill. You can’t call a person a hypocrite for opposing a multifaceted bill. Yes, he opposed the bill, but is it particularly because of the portion you specifically mention? Or, is it other portions of the bill. For instance, if there are 7 parts of a bill and I oppose sections 3,5,and 7 and therefore oppose the bill, you can’t then turn around and call me a hypocrite because of sections 2 and 4, which I may support or don’t necessarily oppose.

  • I’m not an expert on photoshop and so this looks good except, where’s his legs?

  • Napolitano replied. “We will provide you with accurate information as it becomes available.”

Meaning, “We will provide you with the information that we will tell you is accurate as we think it up.”

  • I’ll tell you what Mr. Governor, come to my property on April 24th. Make it start raining at exactly 1135 and 42 seconds and rain consistently until 1140 and 17 seconds at which point you should make all the clouds disappear and bring the sun back out. If you can do that, I’ll go ahead and pay this tax.

  • No, these are the people who are on the streets in the front lines and have a real grasp of what is actually happening crime wise; in particular violent crime. If you want to know what’s happening, you ask the people that deal with it day in and day out, every single day. Those who are in the midst of it. These are EXACTLY the people to ask about this type of thing, not the people sitting in their cozy little offices in Washington. You are completely wrong.

I have many friends who are officers and several family members, including a Sheriff (Part of Sheriff Mack’s posse). Not one of them thinks that these restrictions are a good idea. Everyone of them says that we must be armed because they are minutes away when the incident is happening.

  • “Meanwhile, many nations have been enacting sharp spending cuts and tax hikes to deal with their debt troubles, dragging down growth even further.”

Wait….I thought that was supposed to speed up the growth. Right? That’s what Obama and friends have been telling us….

  • I would have given them a warning on the phone to be recorded. “I have a weapon. If you come into this house I will assume you intend to harm me and will use deadly force if necessary.” Now it was recorded that you gave them warning and they came anyway. Their intentions were clear.

  • I’ll bet if you got honest answers, most of them did pee themselves. Fine help it was too.

  • Fake. The salesman always drive it off the lot and then le you take it over once you are off the lot. Especially with a high powered car.
