Sign From God? Lightning Strikes St. Peter’s Hours After Pope’s Resignation (See the Stunning Photo)

What a cool picture! It means God is in control, so as Blessed John Paul II would say ” Be Not Afraid!” all these conspiracy theories are quite humorous to us Catholics. Christ has already one the victory, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church. The end have a nice day.

All in God’s time.. Im sure thats what they have thought for thousands of years. remember all but 1 apostle was crucified. We started with 12, and we very well could end up with 12 in the end

If Benedict thought himself a god, he would not retire. If we thought him to be a god we would not pray FOR him but TO him… I am faithful to whatever Holy Father we may have in matters of doctrine and the Church. I would die for Christ and His Holy Church! The pope is the visible head of Christ on earth. We are smart enough to understand he is not Christ Himself..duh!

I pray for the predecessor to the Chair of Peter, I pray for Pope Benedict XVI, and I pray for all you ignorant, hateful people who have nothing better to do than tear down instead of build up

While I am not an apologist I do know that the only time a pope is infallible is when he makes decisions from the Chair of Peter.. Keep in mind its not some chair he sits in literally, but in terms of Catholic teaching the pope can have his opinions, which faithful Catholics can disagree with, and he also has the authority to make decisions in regaurds to catholic teaching, that the faithful must be obedient to. I think most of the time it comes from councils ( council of Trent, council of Jeruselem, council of Nicea) The last one we had was Vatican Council 1 and 2. When they rule on such matters of their specific time. So to answer your question, no, he is not infallible once he leaves the Chair of Peter.

If anyone actually wants to hear what the local diocesan bishop as well as the archbishop of denver has to say go to the diocese of pueblo website.. the entire page is dedicated to this topic and they say they are reviewing whether the legal defense group is undermining the Catholic Church’s teaching. I suspect if we keep on top of this that father will be compensated for his loss. As he should be!
