  The Basalt Waste Isolation Project/Gable Mountain at Hanford was also in the running for long-term disposal, but due to the lack of testicular fortitude from our representatives and the whining from environmentalists, it was shut down. Otherwise, all this would be a moot point. (Lifelong Eastern Washingtonian, born and raised in Richland now living in Kennewick, former Hanford worker.)

  Modify that comment to say the PUGET SOUND is a commie-loving area, and you’d be right. Eastern Washington is quite conservative. Take a look at an electoral map and you’ll see much more red than blue on our side of the state.

  Born and raised in Richland. My dad was a transplant from the Remington Arms factory in Utah in late 1942-43 time frame. Nuclear power is not something to be afraid of, nor is the waste if it’s properly handled. Anybody remember Gable Mountain? All of this would be a moot point if that project had been allowed to progress and not canceled by left-leaning politicians out of Olympia. I will check out the blog post previously mentioned. Oh, and I worked at Hanford myself for 20+ years, mainly at the 222-S Labs and the WSCF labs.

  I completely agree! I have two kids, now 18 and almost 15, and we attend our county fair every year. They weren’t allowed to go on adult rides alone until they were at least 10-12. And may I say, that child looks awfully big for a 3 year old. I don’t know that many 3 year old children that are big enough to meet height requirements on rides! Certainly when we went to Disney, when my daughter was 3-1.2, she only met height requirements for a handful of rides. Not the exciting, dangerous ones, and an adult had to go with her in any case. This is child neglect.

  The whole letter scares me, not only because of the content but also because of the crappy format and proofing job done on it. If this is how badly the “educators” of our children spell and use grammar, heaven help us!

  Children don’t curse if they don’t HEAR cursing at home. My children (18 and almost 15) do not curse. My husband and I do not curse. Saying “it’s a natural part of childhood” is just Hollywood’s way of trying to garner ratings for this show (which I am happy to say I’ve never watched). The odd occasion when a child does drop a cuss word, usually at home, is quickly dealt with by parents who are paying attention!
