  I have ubuntu on a bootable cd. I start the computer, the cd loads and ubuntu desktop appears. From there I run Firefox. Nothing can be loaded into my pc (malware et al) because there is no hard drive. When I am done surfing I shut down. Simple as that. Nothing can get in because there is no place to exist on a read only cd. Nothing can be altered on the read only cd. Beat that you pinhead hackers.
