  • Just by doing a quick search, I found that this story is over two months old and was published by Logan’s local newspaper, Logan Banner. Here’s the link: http://www.loganbanner.com/view/full_story/22328452/article-W-Va–teen-arrested-in-T-shirt-flap-back-in-class?instance=search_results
It only had three comments so maybe no one is paying attention. I still recommend that everyone and anyone there contact them and ask them what they were collectively thinking. I hope the school, the local PD and the individual teacher and police officer are sued with extreme prejudice.

  • @ Monk,

We both understand that a warrior’s life is to be celebrated and their death is to be honored.

We just arrive at the conclusion via different paths.

Your apology and explaining your view is well received.

  • @ Monk,

While your heart is in the right place…

Memorial Day is to pay tribute to the military members that have DIED in service to their country.

Veterans Day is to pay tribute to all military members that have served their country.

I don’t think there is such a thing as a HAPPY Memorial Day. I’m not happy when I’m in a cemetery.

  • I am 40+ years old and served over “there”. I’m not immature but am agnostic. Not long ago, I was on the edge of the envelope of being one of these statistics. I had the capability and opportunity, I lacked the intent because I loved my wife and and kids. They said I came back different than I was when I left. I asked for medical help and was initially laughed at. Help almost came too late, I was a borderline abusive alcoholic when I began “treatment”. We are on the long road to recovery, if there is such a thing, one day at a time. I love them for sticking with me and will probably never be able to repay their love and support. If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone regardless of their past. Unless you’ve been there, don’t judge us.

  • Be grateful POTUS didn’t disembark and FIST BUMP with the Corporal!
As a former Marine and 20 year vet of another service, I think he should have returned the salute out of respect to the office, the Marines and the air crew to include the guard.
That said, I think POTUS is still a clown. Hey, IRS, bring the rain.

  • @ LoneIndividual…

You lost me. Please let me reply to your definitions of, and apparent objection to, atheism.

I don’t believe in your religion or any other. Everyone is free to choose. Please reference the First Amendment.

“Lack of deity”? See comment above.

The Divine Personage… See comment above.

Simon & Garfunkel sang about the “NEON GOD”… BFD, I don’t listen to S&G.

“Atheism is also vague & nonsensical”. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Please reference the First Amendment.

“Atheism is purely negative … & about as dumb as AGNOSTIC”. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Please reference the First Amendment.

I’m AGNOSTIC but tolerate whatever religion anyone else is, but am weary of radical Muslims. Apparently, you don’t or can’t tolerate religious deviation?

“Atheism’s definition is”… blah, blah, blah… and your point is?

  • This is embarrassing for the Corps and the nation. I’m sure the terrorists are thinking “hey, all we have to do is make it rain in D.C. and we’ll have them on their knees!”
I was in the Corps from 1987-1991. Had I seen a recruiting picture like this titled, “We protect the President”, I would have joined another service.
Speaking of the White House Marine duty… has anyone ever seen a female or a dark green Marine standing guard at the door? I can’t remember one of either, but that’s just me.
Semper Fi to the young Corporal wearing two medals for saving the situation from being worse.
I think I would have stood with my left arm in the attention mode so the brass buckle of the white dress BELT could sparkle brighter than POTUS. Give the press something shiney to look at. SQUIRREL!!!

  • I know you think you understood what you heard but what I said isn’t really what I meant.

    And the beat goes on…

  • Has anyone tried viewing the black outs using their 3-D, infared, x-ray and radon glasses that Google is selling? I did. On 15 pages, each had one big and bold letter. They read, in order, S-C-R-E-W T-H-O-S-E- D-I-C-K-$. It’s cryptic, alright. You just have to have the right technology. They do it this way to say that it’s all transparent, which it is if you have the $15,000 glasses!

  • Are there really that many weeds growing between the cracks right in front of the JFK memorial? Are they supposed to be part of the landscape or are they there because we can’t afford Round Up because of the sequester! What a national embarressment. Ship, a company like Scott’s should jump all over this and advertise what they’re doing all in the name of CAPITALISM.
