  • Invisible sky man? You left out The Flying Spaghetti Monster and Santa Claus. You’ve really got to pick up your game, Atheist. Lately, you guys seem to be slipping. Maybe it’s the sudden realization that atheism is the delusion of choice among fat white kids in black concert tee shirts or scrawney little nerds who were always the first out in kickball? Maybe it has to do with the fact that you are beginning to understand that with the growing black & hispanic populations in the United States and the rise of Islam in Europe, atheism is going extinct across the globe in short order. It won’t be long before before the imbecilic belief, that man is nothing more than a primordial slime monkey from outer space, is nothing but a shameful relic of our intellectual past.

Abstinence? Nah. Let’s just encourage everyone to engage in fornication and it’s many perverse fetishes on a whim. Then we can call ourselves enlightened and tolerant, and that is what really matters in our soulless monkey playpen of a world. STD’s? So what? We’ll tax those sickly folks like we do soda pop in New York! Yay, problem solved! Now let’s all go out and purchase some black concert tee shirts and talk smack about the Easter Bunny. Yeah, good job atheist.

  • I have lived a long and fruitful life, among my fellow Christians, and I have NEVER heard an evangelical nor a “protestant” claim that Mary was not the Mother of Jesus Christ. She was obviously a beautiful women (not refering to physical beauty). Regardless, nowhere does the Word of God tell us to worship her, or pray to her. Nowhere in scripture is the directive given for us to use her as an intermediary to Jesus Christ. I believe, based on the Word available to me, that even she would point us to her son, who is God in the living flesh. The whole of creation is about Him… not her. This is not an insult, but rather her will, as well as it is God’s will.

  • Substratum, that is exactly my own beef with Osteen. Well said!

Jesus Christ is the head of the Church not the Pope. The Holy Father is God not the pope. The Holy Spirit is the Vicar of the church. Not the guy in the funny hat and in the pope mobile. The pope and bishops are not infallible only Jesus is. These are what Catholics believe. For Catholics to believe that they are the real church is a joke. Catholic means universal. Catholics use that word deceptively.

    Amen, SonOfThunder!

Read your Bible people. You will not get the Roman Catholic Church from the Word of God (Popes, Cardinals, Purgatory, Indulgences, Holy Water, Rosary, Nuns, Veneration & Assumption of Mary, Celebacy of Priesthood, Praying to Saints etc., etc).

Another great book to order is “Answers to Questions Catholics Are Asking” by Tony Coffey, a Pastor in Dublin, Ireland which is a hotbed for Catholic/Protestant debate. Excellent book in a very easy to read format. God bless those who are honest seekers of God’s will!

  • Judeo said,

Purveyor…you are playing a sloppy game. Of course, Jesus, as part of God, existed throughout eternity. The Bible did not. It only exists within the realm of time.

So…again. Which existed first, the Church or the Bible?
    ———————-

The only one who is playing a “sloppy game” here is the one who when presented with scripture that perfectly satisfies his question, continues to play devil’s advocate for the sake of his own pride. Let’s try this again, in simplified form…

John 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The Word of God has existed for eternity. It has ALWAYS existed in God’s purpose and will for mankind before it was ever put in written form (Holy Bible). God simply used man to scribe over time, and then collect & assemble, what has already existed eternally in Christ.

It’s very simple, God’s Word predates the church because the Word of God predates creation. Without scripture’s divine inspiration, there is no church because the Word is also Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 1:14).

I have a question for you DogTags. Which existed first: The Church or the Bible?
    —————————–

    That’s an easy one Judeo,

John 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

There ya go. The Word came before the Church. The church could not have existed prior to the Word as the church exists in RESPONSE to the Word. John 1:14 says that the Word became flesh (And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.). This of course, refers to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the living Word that existed “in the beginning”.

John 8:58- Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”

Jesus, being the Word that became flesh, is eternal, existed BEFORE Abraham who himself existed prior to the church age. Therefore, we can easily surmise from the Word of God that the Word of God came BEFORE the church. The church, the body of believers in Jesus Christ, could not exist at all without the living Word of truth that sustains it.

  • Brittany-Imbriaarts,

The Bible has NOT been heavily edited over the last 2,000 years. This is a common lie expressed by perishing souls who have never bothered to actually do the research. There is actually more manuscript evidence available for the books of the Bible than exists for any other book of antiquity in the world today. And if you knew anything about the Word of God at all you would understand that it has provided a means of knowing our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, and because He is the ONLY path to eternal life and reconciliation with God for sinful man (read John 14:6, and yes… this is an exclusivity claim), that means the Bible has brought more value & good to the world than ANY other book the world has EVER seen, hand’s down!

Other notes of interest to your horribly ignorant commentary…

1.) The Bible is of no private interpretation, biblical truth is the objective standard of God , it is NOT subjective to the opinions of each individual reader of the Bible.

2.) The Bibles teaches to not judge in HYPOCRISY (when we are guilty of the same thing we rebuke in others), it does NOT tell us to forgo the judgement of sin. Don’t just pick out a random verse, read the entire paragraph in full context.

3.) Faith in Christ is NOT a religion. Don’t forget too that Communism & Socialism have killed far more than any church ever has.

    4.) John 3:16, read it, believe/trust it.

@purveyor….if you are going to be in that heaven, I’ll pass. Id rather go where Michael Blanchard went. He sounds like he would be more fun to hang out with.

My response: I am not offended. I do not live this life feeling any responsibility to entertain the lost. I pray that God will soften your heart to His truth and grant you the wisdom to see the folly of your words. That is truly the most loving thing I can do for you.

1 Corinthians 1:18- For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

My response: Slavery was no doubt a cultural norm for the peoples of the time of Leviticus. God did not reveal Himself to us because He desired to change the political structure of a given society, nor did he come to make perfect the earthly traditions of man. What He desires is the redemption of our souls unto eternal life. This gift is freely offered to both slave & fre

  • Most will think Mr. Blanchard a rebel, something they deem as “cool”. But the truth is that there is nothing rebellious about living life after the things of the flesh that the entire world chases after. The REAL rebel stands for Jesus Christ and the fruits of the spirit. Because of this, they will be disliked, sometimes hated, and always villified & ridiculed. Perhaps Mr. Blanchard knew the Lord, only God can judge his heart, but we can judge his words and I fear for his lack of wisdom and repentence. The Obit will no doubt appeal to the lost, but the saved know that Mr. Blanchard is now on his knees before his righteous judge, and cutting a cool promo for the local newspaper is no longer the issue at hand. The question is now… “What have you done with Jesus Christ”? Eternity is FOREVER, such a shame to live selfishly for such a short finite ride.

John 14:6- Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Mark 8:36- “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
