Totally against the principles of the U.S. Constitution. Free speech is a right. But anyhow does this move by one of the prominent leaders of the “New World Order” order movement which is also headed up by our current President here in the U.S. Does anyone else see that we are losing the freedom of our nation and its principles. If the government can ruin your life… or penalize you for your beliefs… your in a system that rivals and maybe surpasses the Third Reich. Lets call our new world order and its leaders what they are… The Fourth Reich.
Well, this wasn't in the US, so the US Constitution has nothing to do with it. Granted, British citizens also have free speech rights, but you might want to read the article with a little more scrutiny before posting.
Wrong country :(
@ Drnordo...THANK YOU! I was wondering how long before someone else made that point as well. This was not here in the US. I do not know what the laws in the UK are regarding employment rights, but this is not an American story. I do have to say, however, that I have heard that a lot of American Companies are looking into perspective employee's social network sites before hiring. I find that very intrusive. The long and short of it is that if ou post in the ether... it can and in the future probably WILL come back to you... so keep that in mind while posting.
@Goobergregory...You bring up an excellent point. This practice is very intrusive. But if we, the potential employee, is laying it all out there, it's difficult for a company to ignore it. Think about it like this. If you're hiring a new employee and a 7 month pregnant woman comes in to interview, legally you can't take her pregnancy into consideration. Logically, how can you not? Unfair? Absolutely. Morally wrong? Perhaps. But the bottom line is, you can't "un-see" or "un-learn" something about an individual. I realize the pregnant woman has to choice but to show you her pregnancy and an employer has to *look* for a Facebook page but it's not very hard to Google a person. And it's really not that difficult to lock it so no one can see it.
That said, I don't agree with this companies actions in the least. Like many of you, I'm unaware of the laws in the UK and I realize this was taxpayer funded association. Nevertheless, would they be willing to fire someone who is on the other side of the issue? If it inappropriate to express your views of one side, it should be inappropriate to express your views of the other side.

Well past Socialism and headed into Facism. Its impossible for the Constitution and these moves towards communism to exist in kind. One must prevail. I have being in support of trying this President for treason for some time now…. well…. anyone agree with this?
