It's called martial law. All elections are suspended, so we'll have a king for life.

The reason its news is because the people that don’t like a child with these kind of problems getting treated like this can get involved and let their voice be heard which is what happened.Thank you Blaze
If you are told there is a consequence, and you do it anyway, who's to blame?
The answer determines if you are a flaming lib or a solid conservative.
How is she being treated? Told by mom and dad her homework and tests aren't important? Told don't go to school even though you are better? Told to ignore the expulsion warnings because we will play on the emotions using the media and this school can't defend itself because of privacy laws? Treated badly if that's the case.
If she is embarrassed, it was the parents that made it public. She has been cancer free for at least 60 school days and probably getting better before December. So, in those 80-100 school days, she has missed 3-4 days a week. While Being Cancer Free.
These parents and some commenters are piling on this school with no facts and acting like liberal bullies, making decisions on emotion.
Conservatives let schools and businesses make decisions and uphold standards. We wish our country did the same. With compassion. The parents rejected months of those efforts and best tries from the school. At some point, too much compassion becomes social promotion and participation trophies, which isn't compassion at all.
Wake up, Blazers, your liberal is showing.
Lest, being in remission does not necessarily mean the girl is better. It just means that she doesn't have active cancer cells in her body at the time. She still has to recover from the damage the cancer and the treatments did to her body.
ree (and all the other dissenters), cancer is hard to deal with because people really don't know how it works.... and it's different with every person. I imagine the school has been doing the best they can for the girl, but there ARE academic standards that have to be upheld. Oddly enough, you do have to ATTEND a school in order to properly learn the curriculum that is taught in that school. This girl wasn't attending for whatever reason and by not attending, her grades were being affected. She needs private in home instruction if she can't make it to her classes. That's not picking on the girl, it's actually just trying to make sure she gets what she needs.
If I was in charge of the school, I'd have done the same thing.... but I'd have saved her place and at the school for whenever she could make it back with regular attendance.... and I'd set aside a percentage of her tuition (whatever she didn't use this year) to be rolled over to help cover the cost for the next time she can attend.
