Whether this was a staged event or not, we’ll never know. Nevertheless, this we do know, the general attitude of police officers as depicted in this story used to be the norm, not the exception to the norm. Today, this is an exception to the norm. Further, if this was not staged, it bears zero reflection on the NYPD. The NYPD did not perform this act of kindness in its official capacity. The NYPD did not instruct the police officer to do this nor did the NYPD pay for the boots; the man in uniform paid for the boots out of his own pocket. Shame on the NYPD for co-opting this man’s efforts. That’s akin to a parent taking credit for their children’s achievements.

American freedoms and liberties are there to defend not only those things socially favorable, but specifically the most outrageous, socially offensive and egregious of statements and points of view. Here in America, we do not suppress those with Muslim beliefs, those who burn our flag, the one who urinates on the cross, nor anyone who makes a sacrilegious video.

Regardless of whether we agree or disagree, as true Americans, we should remain vigilant to strongly defend one’s right voice their view.

To penalize one for expressing themselves or exercising their freedom and liberty is an infringement and a denial of that freedom and liberty which we all enjoy. Today we censor someone else with whom we disagree, tomorrow it may be you and me who is censored.

@ JRook: There is a clear distinction between “reproductive rights” and pro-life/pro-choice. Reproductive rights are an issue in China where those subjects under Communist rule are not permitted to have more than one child. Therefore, the pro-life/pro-choice issue in America does not fall under the reproductive rights purview, and is a meritless claim. Pro-choice is an argument in favor of irresponsible sex with impunity. On this issue, our laws and views are contradictory in America. When a pregnant woman is murdered, the public is outraged that an innocent, unborn baby was slaughtered while the law steps in to prosecute the murderer of a double homicide. On the other hand, both the public and the law turn a blind-eye towards the slaughtering of the innocent, unborn baby if its own mother murders him/her.

I am sure many of you will respond negatively to what I just said, but those are the facts. You’ve heard this before – you are entitled to your opinions, but not your own set of facts.

Not all that America stands for is lost, regardless of who sits in the White House, so long as its Citizens retain those values. Remember, not all Americans fought in the Revolutionary War. It is estimated that approximately 40-45% fought in the war, while 25% stayed true to the Crown and the rest remained neutral. American Patriots need not be concerned with losing America to that minority who welcome Socialism or a One World Order. America dies only when its values die in the hearts and minds of its Citizens.

What Obama meant by saying “Tonight, more than 200 years after a former colony won the right to determine its own destiny, the task of perfecting our union moves forward.” – is that he will continue to perfect the North American Union of Mexico, Canada and America. All indicators point to that.
