Do they have “bourbon and zam zam water” on the Cocktail list? How about a Kaa’ba salad, like a Cobb salad but with lamb or goat substituted for the chicken? If they sat that didn’t intend to upset anyone they are either stupid or lying. My guess- both, but sharp enough to get the publicity they crave—-effete poseurs.

This idea was cute 40 years ago when a colleague of mine made earrings out of two Lippe’s loop contraceptive devices. So “been there, done that”

Pretty certain that the Brits did this in India (before the partition, of course)- in the 19th century. Met with some success. Nothing new etc.

I realize that this remark is tangential to the intent of the story, but I worry about the security issues involved in living in a semi-public building. As an American & as a Catholic I am acutely aware of the harm those of ill-intent may wreak upon those viewed as being “in charge”. I can only hope that good Pope Francis has considered those who protect him, and himself. If harm comes to him, great harm will come to the wide world.
Or maybe an awakening to the evil that exists. If God told Francis that he must die for the world to realize the evil at its doorstep, would he say no? Hiding in an ivory tower makes it difficult to sheppard a flock. Lead by example is even taught at the lowest echelons of organizations (such as military squad sgts and entry level managers).
It is written:
"Is there evil in the city and God not do it?"
"No weapon formed against you shall prosper"
"If God is for you who can be against you?"
Perhaps this pope is a true man of faith...
