The church fell into a state of apostasy with the death of the last of Jesus’ apostles. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”. With regularity, congregations hire and fire pastors/ministers for this very reason. The denominations change “doctrine” to suit their particular beliefs. There is little “unity of the faith” even within the thousands of sects of Christendom.
I agree. If Christianity as a whole is so wonderful, why do they keep separating from each other, creating new leaders to follow, creating new sects and churches, each different from the other but all with the teachings of same book? I have God, but no "religion'. Too many denominations, too many interpretations of the same stories, too many "my way is right, your way is wrong" even within the same religion. How can we be unified when we can't even be unified within the same religion?
no total apostasy.
Think this through. When was the NT canon determined?
If the Catholic Bishops thought this "apostasy" (which by the way does not say TOTAL apostasy) was referring to them would they have included that or eliminated that from consideration for the canon?
If the Catholic Bishops were already IN apostasy then why do you trust the NT canon for one second?
There's no evidence of any total apostasy before or after the NT was determined. Pure fiction.
You are correct with every sentence that follows that first one, though. We should all be praying for unity like Jesus did.
yeah right, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it . Not buying what joseph smith has to sell, a prophet? are you kidding me ? whatever happened to that temple he prophesied would be built in missouri in his lifetime? The Adam is God doctrine straight from the devil , the book of abraham fraud. How he told 15 year old girls that if they did not marry him secretly (keep it from emma) that an angel with a sword would kill him. He used this line several times on innocent LDS children .

It’s sad and such an oxymoron that a “Lieutenant” of MLK would have such a visceral hatred for anyone.
She and most blacks completely missed the point of what MLK was going for. Equal opportunity..........not social justice or payback, just a fair shake

Chloe, you are EXACTLY right!!! i am LDS and those of my friends who are Dims are quick to say how “charitable” the Dim party is. But that’s not charity. As you said, it is forcibly taking money from the worker and giving it to the one who won’t work.
I haven’t read all of the threads here. But one of many things left unsaid it the Reid told demonstrable lies about Mitt, a devout Mormon who follows the counsel of church leaders and lives an exemplary life. When Dingy Harry made his comments about Mitt not paying income taxes for 20 years, Harry knew it was a lie.
This bishop should not have commented as he did, but, hey, what can they do but release him from his calling!!

I find it humorous that The Holy Bible is considered the be all end all for Christians. Do “Christians” realize there was no Bible during the time of Christ? The Bible is an invention of men. Granted, they compiled the writings of the early Apostles, but there is little question that they were uninspired. Their decisions were based on promoting their own ideas of Christianity.
A few of the writing of prophets and apostles not included the the Old and New Testaments:
. . . the book of the covenant: Ex. 24:7; book of the wars of the Lord: Num. 21:14; book of Jasher: Josh. 10:13 . ( 2 Sam. 1:18 . ); book of the acts of Solomon: 1 Kgs. 11:41; book of Samuel the seer: 1 Chr. 29:29; book of Nathan the prophet: 2 Chr. 9:29book of Jehu: 2 Chr. 20:34 .
written among the sayings of the seers: 2 Chr. 33:19 .
spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene: Matt. 2:23 .
I wrote unto you in an epistle: 1 Cor. 5:9 (Paul’s FIRST letter to the Corinthians); as I wrote afore in few words: Eph. 3:3 (Another letter of Paul to the Ephesians); read the epistle from Laodicea: Col. 4:16 ; when I gave all diligence to write unto you: Jude 1:3 (looks like Jude wrote another epistle.)
By proclamation, when these missing writings are found the MUST be rejected by the “Christian” world. The countless number of “Christian” denominations is staggering showing without reservation that there is no :unity of the faith found in Eph 4:11-13.
You forgot about the story of Thecla. There's a lot of scripture missing that was originally part of the Bible but was removed by the Catholic Church when they created the King James version.
@US Navy Vet: What you just wrote is so full of error and distortion that it's hard to know where to begin. The Catholic Church did NOT suppress the distribution of Bibles. It did suppress distribution of incorrectly translated Bibles.
You also don't know the faith that you abandoned, obviously, which is a problem I regularly encounter. The biggest anti-Catholics are the ex-Catholics who embrace error and were very poorly catechized as you clearly are.
You speak with such authority but your post show a total lack of knowledge about Christianity. Or maybe I should say you are trying to understand a puzzle with only a few of the pieces. If you take those pieces away from the puzzle they don't make any sense. If you have any interest I recommend twft.com m.p.3 archive library. Chuck Smith goes through the entire Bible. If you listen to some you might begin to understand real Christianity.

I would ask anyone, what does belief or disbelief in the doctrine of the “rapture” have to do with salvation?? According to prevailing Christian dogma, a profession of faith in our Lord and Savior is all that is required for salvation. This is much ado about nothing. . .
Nobody said it had to do with salvation. But studying and discussing scripture is a good thing.
Those who are banking on being whisked away before the persecution starts are in for a HUGELY painful wake up call. They may even fall away from the faith; see Matthew 24:8-10. I'd much rather be Post-trib and wrong than Pre-trib and wrong.

Great points Chem. One thing the haters of the Church don’t realize is that they treat the Church the same way the religious leaders treated the Savior and His church in former times. Sort of strengthens my testimony to see the persecution heaped upon the Church!

Apparently, everyone, including Hannity, is literally getting upset over nothing apparently. The only time I see Colbert literally is when clips of him are posted on The Blaze, literally. Sean, apparently has the cojones to go to Israel. But he literally has the thinnest skin of ANY talk show host, apparently. Sometimes, I get tired of him literally.
How do you BLAME conservatives for being thin-skinned (presuming they are) considering the frequency with which they are attacked/made-fun-of by the media and TV comedians?
If, say, you were beat up on 10 different occasions by Koreans with red baseball caps, would not that fact make you prone to be on the lookout for others fitting that description, lest you suffer again?
Similarly, how do you expect conservatives to not keep an eye out for bias reporting and such give how often they are targeted?
PS: Do you really think you were being clever or cute by repeatedly writing "literally"? Do you not realize you only duplicated the same lame gimmick as other posters (probably liberals)? I mean, do you really think you were being creative and nuanced? Goodness gracious!

Help me out here. . . Local fire departments can’t get military equipment that doesn’t meet EPA standards TO FIGHT FIRES that dump tons of pollutants into the air?? What am I missing???
It's the Government's. intention to depopulate most of these open and rural areas, remove private ownership and push the population into Urban areas they can control. Please read UN Agenda 21 a Progressive plan of the political elite to enslave America and insert a NWO . Without the ability to fight these wild fires, these rural areas will revert back to nature. Farm land will be regulated to grow food just for the Elite in control, and their chosen minions. Private property ownership will cease. Mass transportation for the masses, with only bicycles will be allowed for private ownership. Soylent Green will no longer be a line from a movie, and 1984 will become reality. Wake up America we are being taken over from within. Time to stand up and be counted.
Rest assured, the pipeline of MRAPs to civilian police SWAT teams will continue apace.

Wonder what would have happened if he’d read the excerpt at the meeting – “she felt his ere**ion against her stomach. . .” etc??
Bingo. Would've been very effective, I think. He still would've been arrested, but... it would've made his points very difficult to disagree with. "Oh, you think this stuff is inappropriate in THIS setting among adults, but it's ok for teenagers to read. Ok. Got it."
You sure you want to use the words "beat me" in response to this article???
