  • Responsible Conservatives are not opposed to cuts in military spending, as long as it is done in the proper manner. Any cutting that reduces actual efficiency is irresponsible. However, those that are “in the know” of how the military budgetary process works could show the government how to cut spending properly. The problem arises because bureaucrats in DC want to always attack the shortfalls from the largest costs down, which are sometimes the most critical to efficiency. The majority of waste is conducted in the smaller cost items.

  • Here’s the real kicker they aren’t telling you. The Marine Corps purchased the exact same system. (Not sure of the other services) However, they probably won’t scrap it. They will just double down and force the use of a broken system.

  • It must be nice to be able to sit down at the dinner table with your children every night. There are those of us in foreign countries worldwide that have not sat at a table with our families in 6, 9, or 12 months. Sometimes when you make a commitment as big as this even your family has to pay the price as well.

  • JKunzer, you are really hurting to find good talking points today. In reply to the foreign policy issue; exactly what experience did Mr. Obama have in this regards when he first ran for office? Secondly, we are not complaining about Mr. Obama creating jobs. Our complaint is his economy stifling policies that hinder businesses from creating jobs. I will wait for your next round of asinine points that truly hold no water in an intelligent conversation.

  • It’s final……. Hillary’s not getting the VP job.

  • Secondly, I ask you to read the article in its entirety and stop looking for the boogey man.

From the article: “This is a smart idea because the biggest single problem the Marines have in dealing with low-intensity types of threats is that they basically are trained to kill people,” he said. “It’s good for the Marines to have skills that allow them to contain threats without creating casualties.”

I would think that most anti-war types would find this comforting.

From the article: “Gary Solis, a former Marine Corps prosecutor and judge who teaches law of war at Georgetown University, said Marines have already been doing this kind of work for years but now that it has been made more formal by the creation of the battalions, it could raise a host of questions, especially on the use of force. The law of war allows for fighters to use deadly force as a first resort, while police officers use it as a last resort.”

Calm down people. I don’t trust our politicians anymore than you do. However, if they decide to come and get you using the military (Marines in particular), I would bet most would be on your side.

    God Bless

  • I do not post here very often, however, I feel obliged to do so here.

First off I find many of your conspiracy theories amusing. Especially when you are speaking of things you do not know about. This is not some huge government plan to put all of you in concentration camps. This is the Marine Corps trying to make itself relevant in the face of huge budgetary cuts. You see after every war there is a push to reduce or destroy the Corps. The marine corps has seen a need on the modern day battlefield for a more police type approach. They did not go out and create a bunch of new MP’s and create some kind of super cop battalion. These MP’s have all existed prior to this, however they were fragmented throughout different portions of the Corps. We have decided to consolidate them within individual battalions so as to centralize and standardize their training and skill sets. They will continue to do the jobs they have been doing, just within a different structure.

  • @MUFFY The house has passed approximately 18 bills to repeal portions or all of Obamacare. They announced shortly after the decision that they will vote on another on July 11th. In fact one of the first bills that this House passed was a bill to repeal Obamacare. They never go anywhere because of the Democrat run Senate.

  • @Cesium.. There is a problem with your logic. They do not abort the eggs that fail to implant. they abort the ones that do. The ones that successfully implant if left to nature will grow into a human being. Therefore, there is basis to ALynn’s argument. An abortion is only to remove a living being from the womb of another. If that is a choice one wants to make, then they must suffer the consequences. I believe it to be the most abhorrent thing that our society has come to accept as normalcy, but I do not believe that a government can stop it. However, I also believe that a government should not fund any organization that promotes it either.

  • @Herb What you are describing is Micro-Evolution. Those on the side of Intelligent design will not dispute that micro-evolution happens. The problem is when we extrapolate this fact into a theory of macro-evolution.
