  • Actually, this is a major part of good computer models, as evidenced by the man made global warming models NOT being able to correctly predict the climate based on their factors over the course of the last several thousand years. How else would you recommend testing whether you are including the correct factors and weighting them correctly if they can’t predict times when you KNOW the outcome. I’m not saying it is sufficient by itself, you could still have mere coincidences, but if you can’t “predict the past” if you will, you have no hope of predicting the future.

  • First of all know what you are talking about. The F-35 IS a ground attack aircraft NOT an air superiority fighter. It can shoot down other aircraft, but that’s not it’s role. Secondly, did you miss the Chinese J-20, as well as the Indo-Russian air superiority fighter not far behind? Should we wait until these are all in production and then expect to flip a switch? Are you really willing to risk our ability to protect national interests? Go ahead and bury your head in the sand and arrogantly assume that we will always have superior technology and equipment.

  • Turbos are fabulous if they are done well. I had a 1986 Dodge Colt Turbo (Mitsubishi Mirage) that I put 135,000 miles on, and only gave it up when a driver turned left in front of me. The engine wasn’t quite as peppy as it had been when new, but it still worked quite well, and NEVER a problem with the turbo. I did change the oil a little more regularly, but I didn’t have to use synthetic oil or anything special. On a side note, as long as people are bringing up Hitler’s role in the VW, my Mitsubishi (imported by “By American” Lee Iacocca) was made by the company that produced the Japanese Zero.
