  • Truly amazing. I carry a pistol everywhere, it doesn’t have a safety. It’s always a trigger-pull away from firing, is loaded, cocked and ready to roll. I treat every gun as if it were loaded unless I removed the magazine and checked the action. If I put the gun down then I’ll check it again.

Stories like this not only are tragic for the people involved, but they provide excellent fodder for those who would remove our 2nd amendment rights.

  • The legality of secession is not contained in the bylaws of the United States; which is to say it’s not in the Constitution. It’s in the immutable charter of the United States. The charter that I speak of is the Declaration of Independence which clearly advocates secession with every vowel and consonant contained within.

So anybody that says secession is not legal, supreme court, president, etc, is dead wrong.

  • First thing, encryption of data across the network is not so simple. There are very specific key exchange algorithms designed to create ‘session keys’ across a compromised channel. This means that we can negotiate a key exchange while Iran is listening, and Iran won’t be able to understand it, regardless of what keys they hold.

So, as long as your browser uses the HTTPS protocol instead of HTTP (you know, the first thing in the URL … HTTPS://www.yoursite.com vs HTTP://www.yoursite.com, you’re pretty much safe from snooping. They can only tell what server you’re talking to, and that’s about it.

The real risk is physical security and keeping snooping programs (FBI generated malware anyone?) out of your computer.

  • The stats here are insignificant compared to other forms of violent crime. When you lump-sum the violent crime (assaults, rapes, armed robbery, etc) and compare that, you get some very compelling numbers. Gun control does not work.

  • “Monstro comes from the world monstrous also meaning big.”

It does NOT! It comes from the Latin word monstro – monstrare which means “to point.” That’s where we get the words:
monster – a thing people point at
demonstrate – show or expose something, make it something people don’t point at

  • So lemme get this straight, it’s OK for me to not have health insurance until I have a condition, then I can get health insurance to deal with it. Once I’m well again, I can drop the health insurance until I get sick again?

Something tells me health insurance providers will be folding left and right under this scheme.

  • ” There are plenty of cities and towns who could use seasoned law enforcement officers, and wouldn’t have them focusing efforts on bootleggers, cigarette smugglers, and harassing gun show collectors.”

I am sure that these guys would be harassing gun show collectors regardless.

  • Trollmonger, isn’t that a NAZI flag you have as your icon? Yea, its not a swastika, but it is of the genre if I recall.

  • In my day, I’ve seen gray lizards turn a very dark pale brown, bumblebees have their yellow stripes darken and thin until the bumblebee is completely black. I can’t deny that evolution has taken place to some degree. But, as one philosopher said, “no manner of science will ever be able to disprove the existence of God.” Perhaps evolution is a part of His creation.

  • Lawsuits stand for a particular reason, however, a ‘New Zealand’ approach should be taken, much like what’s going on in Texas these days. There was tort reform in Texas, where the losing party in a lawsuit has to pay the winning party’s costs. Should you sue Warner Brothers and lose, you will pay for the Warner Brothers’ defense.
