  • Panthers Fans report in. Cam Newton is the future and the future is bright. Just need to fire the a$&%!&* calling the plays.

    In b4 “I don’t care about sports”
In b4 “Cam Newton is a black man”
In b4 “[insert generic Obama derision]“

  • TheJerk, Last time I checked, it was illegal for government to endorse religion. The original intent of my post was to point out that even though the cross on the seal doesn’t harm anyone, it is still illegal and makes some people uncomfortable. This is obviously just my opinion but I can sympathize with both sides.

  • TheJerk, you are certainly correct in some cases but wrong in others. If a naked man approaches me on the street and it makes me feel uncomfortable, nobody is going to tell me to get over it and that I don’t have any right to complain.

  • The establishment clause and free exercise clause from the Constitution imply it while Jefferson was the one who actually coined the phrase. Separation of church and state is a great thing but some people definitely go overboard in trying to enforce it. I don’t know why the FFRF feels the need to bully this town when they can go after something significant at the federal level like swearing public officials into office with their hand on a Bible. Its federal, clearly a violation of the establishment clause, and I would suspect that many people (even here on The Blaze) would like to see them sworn in on the Constitution. Aquila non capit muscas.

  • Ragnars, you must be a profoundly unhappy person. Altruism is one of the very best of human qualities. Try doing something good for someone. If feels good and makes the world a better place. I like this business owner because he realizes the value of community.

  • Sigh….. This one is tough for me. On the had, I really don’t see the harm in having a cross on the city seal. Its not really hurting anyone. On the other hand, I can see why non-Christians might feel uncomfortable with the obvious Christian symbolism. In this particular case, I have to side with the city. Its not like they didn’t try to be inclusive witth the “Progressive Ideas” part of the seal. I would think the FFRF could find far more egregious cases of religion in government. I just wish people would be religious in their own lives and be satisfied with that.

  • Only on The Blaze will people defend a grown man for mocking a little girl for her disability. Free speech is one of the greatest freedoms that we have but it doesn’t cover harrassment. Are all of you implying that this loser has the right to mock this girl at will? If this type of speech is covered then I guess none of you would have a problem with him showing up at the bus stop everyday and repeating his actions. I don’t know if jail was the best option, I would have prefered community service, but tangible punishment is clearly needed in this case.

  • MSNBC is trash just like FOX News. They are two sides of the same worthless coin…..

  • Can we give WineDude a friggin medal?! Don’t worry my friend, relgion is a failing institution. As people become more informed and connected, they won’t be satisfied with hocus pocus fairy tales. That being said, human beings will always hold on to some irrational beliefs. Intelligence has its limits after all.

  • Yes of course! All Muslims are the same and think the same things! So I guess when someone professes to be a Christian on TheBlaze and advocates murder/violence/nuclear war/etc I can safely assume that is what all Christians think. I mean its not like there are different sects of Christianity/Islam that believe different things. And surely there are no politically secular Muslims/Christians like the ones protesting Morsi’s power grab in Egypt. O wait…..
