  • Road = public. Slow down and enjoy my fanny…

  • My calm and level headed friends. I own a car as well as three bicycles. Most cyclists also drive and we understand both sides of the argument. I suggest that before people who haven’t ridden a bicycle since they were 15 comment on how irresponsible the cyclists are on the roads, they venture out into the real world and go bike a short distance. Cyclists commonly bike 20-120 miles at a time and that CAN NOT be done only on nice calm smooth country roads. There are always times when we can not only stay on a nice bike path or wide and recently paved roads with 20mph speed limits.

There is no excuse for being reckless or selfish on a bike, but neither is there an excuse for a cyclist, simply trying to enjoy their exercise or training to be continually harassed by others on the road. With that said, if I feel it is unsafe for a car to pass me around a tight turn, I will take the entire lane (not darting in front of any vehicles mind you) to prevent them from driving me into the ditch or trees, then move back to the side when the road straightens.

Most cyclists use common sense, so please try to look at it from a cyclists prospective before frustrations are allowed to boil over.

And the awesome looking outfits stop us from bleeding around our scrotal region, in case you were wondering… not for Paris fashion week.
