I think the point of this debate should be centered around freedom of speech. People should be able to defend “traditional” marriage without being called homophobic, bigots, etc. As well, people should be able to defend same-sex marriage. We should not silence one group in order to support another – this, I believe is un-American. Unfortunately, too many people now-a-days argue important issues by bashing thier opponent.

I’m no rich person, believe me. BUT, it’s unbelievable to me to think that people agree with Buffett. I applaud him for making his money and adhering to his investment philosophy – adopted from Benjamin Graham. But one thinks that Graham would be rolling in his grave hearing Buffett talk like this.

My problem: Buffet, if you want to pay more in taxes because you are “mega-rich”, write a check to the government – Simple. How may times have you done this? Never? So it leads to the question of why have you not volunteerly sent your hard-earning money to the IRS? Is it because you don’t want to UNLESS you are forced? If so, is FORCING someone against their will the way a republic works?

The mega-rich don’t pay their fair share?
FACT: Top 0.1% (making > $2.3m) pay 13% of all federal tax collection
FACT: Top 20% (making > $104k) pay 67% of all federal tax collection
FACT: Remaining 80% (making < $104k) pay 33% of all federal tax collection
THIS is what is wrong with the tax system! Enforce a flat-tax and watch the country prosper. What we are doing to the top segment of the population is flat out immoral!

Buffett has turned from a well-respected investor into an idealogue. It's sad. Again, I admire his investment insights but I do not agree with his principle of taxing the rich.
