thats where the progressive reeducation camps will be, away away away down south in dixie
Anything that a black person does that a white person notices is racist.
Ah yes but when my beautiful wife shows up on the job I work hard!
'Some College Students 'Should Spend a Year Picking Cotton'
I love all the assumptions of, “White people have NO history of manually picking cotton in the USA so I feel like he’s being racist". Just complete ignorance. There were white indentured servants and maybe even white slaves in early American colonialism. Just because we don't read about it in our supposed 'history' books doesn't mean it didn't happen. Maybe Charlie Daniels had spent time picking cotton, I have no idea. Manual labor does build character and that is what is missing from current college kids. We don't work like they did in the past. We have machines do the work for us. Maybe he's on to something? College kids actually give credence to 'safe spaces' on campus'. As an individual thinker, I think these supposed 'safe spaces' are simply an infringement on free speech.
Okay, then, I spent my college summers picking peas and sweet corn. I had the good job - many other teens in my area spent their summers de-tasseling corn.
And throwing hay bales - did plenty of that as well.
More college students need to work like that for a year.
So many geniuses out there. White people did pick cotton jackass. Not everybody owned slaves, but don't let that get in the way of your manufactured outrage.
Picking cotton is a paid position, thank you very much.
Receiving welfare is not a paid position, because it's not earned, it's ROBBERY BY VOTES!
Only true racists would assume he was talking about blacks
Hard work pays off in the future, laziness pays off now.
I was a black child and didn't know it.
I worked cotton as a boy and didn't realize I was black
according to these people.
Boy .....will my dad be surprised !!!!
These fools( I was going to say people but, they're fools) charge racism
just to manufacture a position to attack something they don't like.
Yeah, well my Dad had an irrigation farm.
At five years old my twin brother and I were carrying siphoning pipes, at seven picking rocks and weeds and changing wheel move sprinklers, driving trucks and tractors at eight and by the time we were twelve we hated summer holidays, religious holidays, week ends, long week ends, after school hours, pre school hours, and were cursing a teacher's strike that turned a week long Easter break into month of free labor for Dad cause he didn't have to hire a crew to move his 200' X 50' X 15' root cellar full of potatoes to market.
We never wanted to get kicked out of school and we never got paid one single solitary nickel for doing adult work cause Dad figured, we had clothes, food, and a roof over our heads, and that's all kids should expect.
So go pick some cotton and shut up ya malackas.
Just ask melissa harris perry.
I get it.
COTTON is racists.
That's why you never see black people wearing Cotton or use tobacco products.
If they did, they'd be very hypocritical, if they used those items, to say anything about slavery
Please tweet that to Charlie
Spent my high school and college summers putting up hay, tobacco, picking peppers, and other jobs that some kids, these days, would scoff at.
If there had been cotton fields in KY, I probably would have picked cotton, too.
I get the impression that Mr. Daniels actually did pick cotton as a teenager.
America was formed by some of the greatest Men to ever walk the face of the earth but today we really suck ass and have some of the most evil vile degenerate people parading around w/ power.
There's really no hope for this Nation.. None whatsoever.
i need a safe space to hide. i might have heard something racist.
What is raciest about Daniel's statement. I'm white and when I was 9 years old I picked cotton for $.01 a pound and chopped cotton fro $.50 an hour. I bought my first pair of Levi jeans for $5.00.I realize this was almost 60 years ago but I worked 2 jobs while getting my college degree. I had to much pride to ask for a hand out from Uncle Sam.
Many of our college “graduates’” should spend a year learning to read and write the English language properly. Let’s start with this one…

I’m not a Trump fan, and believe all abortion should be abolished. No exceptions.
That said, if a person goes and pursues an illegal activity, gets caught, then they deserve some kind of consequence.
If a person makes their livelihood providing the illegal activity, then their consequence is going to be much greater.
The buyer usually gets a smaller punishment than the dealer.

“I do not respond very well to insults or to threats,”
Except that you did, only it was to the group threats coming from moneyed interests.

I think we should simply enforce the laws we have for illegals.
What does need harsher penalties?
Going after the businesses that hire them over Americans.

They need to start handing out a wolf tag with each elk or deer tag purchased.

We homeschool and my wife worked as a 1 on 1 aide in middle school and high school. I was in the process of switching careers to go teach in a continuation school to try and be a role model, mainly for the young men as I’m a horrible sexist and believe that young men need older men as role models. Unfortunately my health took a dump and things changed.
That said, there is a need for public schooling as well as parents who have enough time to give a rip about their public students. It’s hard to run a family on a single income and it has gotten harder with the stagnation of middle class wages for the last 30 some odd years. Plus, sometimes families break apart and there is no parent at home to teach.
My solution? Strip out anything remotely related to socialization, social issues and non-core subjects as being mandatory. Make all non-core subjects pay as you go, including, horror of horrors, sports. This will force parents to have an active financial stake in what their students are learning outside of the Three R’s. We all know, that when you have money on the line, you’re more likely to pay attention to what you’re spending it on.

That wasn’t the road up to Onion Valley, was it? I sure hope they sent a street sweeper ahead of them.

Maybe they didn’t rehearse after setting up and the sound tech wasn’t able to set levels.

How dare he take any responsibility for his community. Doesn’t he know that it is the domain of the State?

I live on the border of two of the counties listed. Our numbers are nowhere near that low.
