I live in TN and have to go to one of my doctors every 2 months and there is an entire row of handicapped parking spots there…but in 3 1/2 years of going there I have been able to find an empty handicapped spot only twice…in all that time I have only seen 1 perosn with a walker, 3 people using a cane, and 1 other person in a wheelchair parked in the handicapped spaces (most people with canes, walkers, crutches, & wheelchairs have someone with them that drops them off up front and then parks somewhere else), but I have seen dozens who seemed to have nothing wrong with them walk out and drive off from handicapped parking spots while I was pushing myself up the steep hill from the bottom row of parking spaces or across the road after parking at the hospital next door in severe pain from my broken back. People used to care about other people but not so much anymore and so I don’t know what the solution to the problem is…my doctor suggested I talk to the building administrator about making more handicapped parking spots but that does not seem like the problem or solution to me. One solution would be for doctors to stop signing the parking applications for people that really don’t need them.

This story reminds in a big way of “The Road We Have Traveled!” And I for one am looking for an exit ramp to get off this road!!! In 1974 as a 17 year old girl I was driving home from seeing my Mom in the hospital on a road that had very little traffic when my tire blew out. I was several miles from the nearest house and didn’t know what I was going to do, when a black man (I am white) about 45 years old came along, stopped and changed my tire. When I offered to pay him he refused and replied that he just hoped that if one of his daughters were ever in the same situation he hoped my father or someone would do the same for them. I assured him that my father would definitely do the same thing he did in that situation and he wished me a nice day and drove off. I miss those days so very much, I am now 55 and have never forgotten his kindness and help that day. Today’s road is going in the wrong direction and I fear it is too late to turn around!!!

Obama said at a news conference that he’d called Fluke after Limbaugh made his comments “because I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way, and I don‘t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re good citizens.”

Why hasn’t anyone in the media had the guts to point out that if his daughters grow up and speak out about anything that disagrees with their father and his radical leftist friends ideas then it will be Bill Maher or someone else on the left calling them the C-word, S-word, etc.???

A vote for anyone except the GOP nominee is a wasted vote and the same as voting for Obama…none of the candidates might be ideal but saving the country from Obama is ideal!!!

    @ Spqr1

And if blacks don’t want to be black then don’t be black!!! Now see how stupid that sounds??? We were born white just like blacks were born black…it was not a choice…not that I would have chosen differently!!! I am who God intended me to be!!!

I don’t care what the idiot liberals at Wikipedia’s definition of Florida Cracker is…and I don’t care if they used it in the 1700′s & 1800′s…I know what “crackers” and “honkies” means today in that area and has at least for the last 55 years!!! He knew exactly what his racist ass was saying!!!

    @ GayDem4Beck & EchoHawk

I was born and raised in that area…I graduated from a Walton County high school & both of my kids graduated from Okaloosa County high schools…we never called ourselves “Cracker”…the only people that called us “Crackers” were blacks that were trying to insult us!!! We were very good friends with a lot of blacks…the two best people in my entire high school as far as I am concerned was both black and would never have called someone a “cracker”!!! “Cracker” is a derogatory term for a white person and has nothing to do with cattle or whips or anything else besides our skin color!!! We are talking about Florida not Texas, Oklahoma, or any other cattle country…get an education!!!

It is very sick and crazy for anyone to think that a baby’s life is just a choice but scream about the inhumanity of putting a convicted murderer to death or people choosing to eat a steak!!! A baby has done absolutely nothing wrong and yet they feel it is totally acceptable to sentence a baby to death simply because her mother made a bad choice by not using birth control!!! And the baby doesn’t even get a trial or representation!!! I know that God has to be so sad watching the monsters that so many people on this earth have become!!!

AuntBea I so agree!!! This is so ridiculous…all the candidates tell their supporters they are going to win…suddenly we are going to consider a peptalk to his supporters as an egotistical claim that he will win???

“Investigators also found significant problems with the brakes of both school buses involved in the accident. A third school bus sent to a hospital after the accident to pick up students crashed in the hospital parking lot when that bus’ brakes failed.

However, the brake problems didn’t cause or contribute to the severity of the accident, investigators said.” I am 100% against people driving while texting but it is absolutely CRAZY saying that the faulty brakes on the school buses did not contribute to the accident!!! The only reason they are saying this is because the government is unwilling to get involved in making school buses safer. My 5 year old granddaughter was killed by her school bus and my daughter managed to get a law passed in GA finally after getting the Dim governor out of office…but the only help she got was from GOP reps. The Dims will gladly spend our tax dollars on deadbeats but they will fight to the death rather than spend a dollar to make our children safer!!!

So Obama isn’t really president since he gloated by saying “I won” to John McCain and the GOP in congress??? Can we as Americans flag that election???

I have lived outside the city limits more than I have lived inside the city limits during my life and I have always paid the fee to be covered by the closest fire department…I’ve never had a home fire (knock on wood) but if I move outside the city limits again I will pay the fee…because I know that employees have to be paid…fire trucks have to be bought…equipment has to be bought…water has to be paid for…and it takes money to pay for all those things!!! WTH is wrong with people today???

  • December 7, 2011 at 1:45am

They sit idly by while women & girls get punished for being raped but spend our tax dollars defending people that refuse to keep their sex life in the bedroom where it belongs!!! I am sick to death of these nutjob liberals…I am sickened that I was stupid enough to be a dim for most of my life!!! I don’t know how I did not see through them earlier…I don’t agree with them on anything now that I really see what they are all about!!!

My first husband had a younger cousin with Downs Syndrome and when he was born the doctors advised his mother to put him a home because he said that his was a very severe case and he would never be able to take care of his basic daily needs. They said that he would never even be potty trained. His mother was unwilling to accept that he could not be helped. She took him home and found the best possible school for him and with their help he slowly but surely reached each goal set for him. I never met his mother but after marrying my husband I communicated with her often over the phone and through mail sharing each of his achievements and giving encouragement and praise because being disabled myself I knew how valuable that is to someone going through something like this. I remember how happy she was when he graduated high school shortly before his 21st birthday and then when he finished the special trade school designed to teach him how to handle money, a checking account, pay bills, & etc. in order to live independently a year later. Shortly after his mother died and I met him for the first time and I was amazed at what a well mannered and self sufficient young man he was. None of us including the doctors can say with certainty that this little girl will not be a success story as well. My prayers and admiration go out to this child, her mother, & all the people willing to give this child a chance and a helping hand!!!

This is exactly why when vandals damaged our neighborhoods entrance sign last year and some of the residents sent notices to everyone wanting to start a HOA so they would be able to replace the sign and take care of common areas, my husband called in one of his contractors and had the sign replaced with a much nicer sign at our expense. He then suggested that everyone pitch in to do the weeding, lawn cutting, & etc., showing them that we could keep up our neighborhood without charging dues and having committees making rules concerning our personal property. He reminded them that neighbors used to work together on things like this eliminating the controversy of a HOA dictating what we can or can’t do on our own property. It has worked out very well…and I think a very smart investment on our part!!!
