It seems to me to be more who took the photo and how insensitive and self-serving the caption was that is the bigger problem. If a journalist had taken this highly unusual shot with it’s unlikely juxtaposition of high fashion magazine escapism in the hands of someone in desperate poverty and had presented it with sensitivity, the photo may have been well-received and could have provoked compassion to help this person. I wonder, did Ana pay this woman for her picture at all?

What about the horror stories from the lips of holocaust survivors? I am sure they were glad someone stood up against evil and fought to save them. What of the little girls being forced into sex slavery? What of the massacres? Should we stand by weeping, or should Good people be willing to fight and triumph over Evil?
It is time to weep for the fallen when the battle is over. While innocents are dying it is time to defend them with blood and steel.
"The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"

When my parents moved to the country in 1972, they paid to sink a well, like all their neighbors had. They opted to pay electricity to pump the water, but could certainly install a manual pump, if need be. They also opted to pay to install a septic tank, for the convenience of indoor toilets. Howver, an old couple next door too them still used an outhouse and potbelly stove. City water is a modern convenience, but by no means the only option for self-sufficient people. There was also a spring in the area, which anybody could use. The Amish, here in Ohio still take care of their own needs, however, the EPA is starting to regulate them out of doing so. They are being forced to pay to install mandated septic tanks, and it looks like they may be prohibited from recycling their outhouse content into compost for their fields. In Red Desert, Wyoming, a business I know (which had people living on site in trailers), used to have a large water tank, and water was trucked in and delivered to them from nearby Wamsutter, on a regular basis. There are always options beyond the public largesse, if there is the regulatory freedom to do so.
Shari: Basically a good post except more and more frequently the option to stand apart from "regulatory largesse" is vanishing exponential to over population. South Florida provides a tragic but perfect example. Compared to where I now reside, the South Florida population outnumbers me and my neighbors at a per capita ratio of around 14,000 residents to one! At first the horrific population influx after World War Two could adapt to fresh water wells. Today so much of the original water table has been pumped out on the coastal areas, the intrusion of salt water has "poisoned the well", as it were. The only remaining option is city treated water (or get dysentery). As I've mentioned, there are far too many people concentrated in the South and they don't (and can't) get along.

OMG…..So, Obama just announced that the war on terror is over? Seems like a pretty big point and would certainly explain his actiions. Will he release the rest of the prisoners next?

This story dovetails with the Nebraska school kids being conditioned to think self-defense is unacceptable.

This gentleman’s nickname was “snowball” because he was born during a very rare snowstorm in Mississippi, Upon hearing this, my silly husband said, “Well, I guess there’s not a chance of Snowball going to hell.” ;)

The new propaganda is about a world water shortage, and a out unfair use of some nations over others. Planet is 3/5ths water, always has been. As to home use of such a unit, my bulky water heater still has one advantage over tankless: it doesn’t stop working during a power outage.

Interesting in that the govt gives itself permission to offer catastrophic only coverage, while denying the insurance industry the ability to the same – net effect that standard insurance cannot compete,as they are mandated to cover all sorts of extraneous things. Same principal has been killing charitable bingo in Ohio – the state may do all kinds of things which bingo operators are strictly prohibited from doing, meaning bingo cannot adapt and compete and the state will have to become what people turn to, rather than private organizations. So, we here the insurance industry talking about huge instability. Sure, i want catastrophic only, but NOT through obamacare. Just get the heavy regulations off the insurance industry.

Part of well-established brainwashing techniques require stressing the target(s) to psychologically soften them up for the messages (class propaganda). Per research done by Thomas Sowell, alienating them from their support structures (parents are stupid and not a resource), food control, directing peer pressure toward anyone who questions the message (social alienation by the group), and other techniques. This so-called bullying experiment amounts to psychological abuse.

This is art about the same level as Duchamp’s urinal installation was ‘art.’ Yeah, right. This young know nothing has been groomed to believe sex is nothing but an isolated body function and soul-less. There is nothing elevated or sacred for him, how sad and empty his life will be. After some years of this, he will sound like those prostitutes and sex workers who feel used up and worthless. I pity these young, propagandized folks, whether gay or straight, it is no way to live. Dams the Marxist change agents in the schools.

Brilliant idea! Progressives have been very busy at local levels, and this needs a strong, unified rapid response.

I agree with this idea. Another option would be to donate to Hillsdale College.

Agree 100%. I would also ask what effect extreme calorie restriction has on developing brain and body.

Actually, not a bad analysis of the situation.

Totalitarians always telegraph what they intend to do. Obama is making a clear statement when he says ‘No red states or blue states, only the United States’ and then shows the field of stars removed and replaced with him as the single source power. We see him making legal challenges of states rights continually.

Funny, I never saw Obama as black, only as Marxist Red. I agree with slice of life, I welcome those two Americans to our conservative family, too. I admire them.

Since Tickets.com had not posted the movie the day before, I drove to the movie location and prepurchased our family’s tickets for the next day. No biggie. There was applause from the entire audience at the end of the movie.
