  • This is a generational JOKE!
I remember when a President saluted and the media went wild …
The president, a former actor, justified his actions on the basis that he was Commander In Chief, and so the highest ranking member of the military.
But a President is a civilian… one with the option to salute … if he wishes to define the nation as one under military rule… with military issues having priority in the public consciousness…
However, if we are a nation at peace, with peaceful intentions, a salute is accepted (no action beyond a glance at the soldiers face, or a nod will do) when passing, or it is simply expected to be there … and, to the soldier’s disbenefit, an underling can note its absence.

  • Scary Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) might be an intelligent Republican … at least smart enough to say “I DON’T TRUST THE REPUBLICANS’…

  • Cuba is a non-entity with a great tropical climate.
It is a straw dog for those afraid to confront real issues.
Those who know history know we created any alleged problems with that little Island…. and, according to the UN, and Human Rights groups, Americans are the the ones using that Island for evil — we imprison people there, without trial, without justice and generally without cause.
But reality has no place in American life.
The Most Harm to the Most People … it is a doctrine which dominates the Right Wing of American politics.
People are entitled to a vacation …

  • Being a Christian conservative mandates marriage equality … the 2012 book, (which the Vatican requested and added to its archives), “Saint Paul’s Joke”, makes a passing point of the fact there is no biblical basis for opposing marriage equality — to the contrary, St. Paul MANDATED it for those who wish to engage in sexual activity.

  • Very accurate critical point: “if you’re going to stand up for heterosexual marriage and exclude gay marriage, you’ve got to do it outside the Bible.”
the 2012 book, “Saint Paul’s Joke”, discusses this very fact. The bible has a specific law against bi-sexuality in male (nothing for females); there is absolutely no mention of homosexuality, or homosexual behavior (with the exception of the no male bisexuality). St Paul does require that those who wish to engage in sex MUST be married. Again, no condemnation of homosexual relations, but the mandate that marriage must precede sex… or practice celibacy (regardless of gender or gender preferences).
From the standpoint of the Bible, those who wish to follow it, MUST support gay & straight marriage as a prelude to any sexual activity.

  • Really, “over 170 million jobs that could be lost,” Where?
170 million is more then all the workers in America — or over half the population.
As the article states, ” there are only 134 million people working in the United States”
If we accept the “(she accidentally said 170 million , when she meant 170 thousand) ” COOL a decimal error is routine if the data is mixed in with other statistics; in reality, depending on where the $85 Billion in cuts occurs, we could displace workers in foreign nations now supplying a lot of our products.

Just think about cuts to social security — they remove disposable income (the stuff that causes an economy to grow) and reduces roughly a third of the population to subsistence living… no squandering on the grandkids, so not much money for the Walmart style stores…. and hardly very much for local stores.

But hey, who cares … we need a good recession to make the GOP happy

  • Marching for the right to murder women they don’t know: Here’s the reality check:
In 1965, One-in-Five abortions resulted in death. That means today, Four women per thousand in the population are alive because of Roe v Wade.

Therefore, opponents of Roe v Wade are fighting to KILL four out of every thousand women between the ages of 15 and 44. Given the number of out-of-wedlock births since Roe v Wade, verses the number prior to it, we can also see that Roe v Wade. actually brought more babies into the world than it terminated – that is, babies who would have been terminated now are born … specifically because the mother’s have time to think about having the child, rather than focusing on finding someone to terminate it.

So, it comes to this: THE RIGHT TO LIFE group is seeking to murder women and increase the number of abortions (decrease the number of out-of-wedlock births). Those who are pro-Roe v Wade are actually saving lives.

  • The Economist, 22 Jan 2013, published “Daily chart: Roe v Wade at 40″
In 1965, in the USA, TWO HUNDRED women died per thousand abortions. Today there are twenty abortions per thousand women.
So: Prior to Roe.v.Wade, one in five abortions resulted in the death of the woman. That means, today, the anti-abortion group (Right to Lifers) are lobbying to annually KILL four of every thousand women in the 15-44 age group.
The shame of Roe.v.Wade is that there are people who openly lobby to murder 4-in-1000 women … and nobody in the media is calling them on it. For this group, calling them selves proponents of The Right-to-life, the reality is, the want the Right-to-Murder to become law.
If they support life, what are they doing to support the babies that are born? Are they providing them with medical care? Covering the cost of the pregnancy? Providing education, or anything that supports the living and ensures a fruitful growth to a productive adulthood?
    !!!!!! NO !!!!!!
What they want is dead women, and sickly, illiterate children..

  • “[Obama] feels that they are the purveyors of white privilege,” Interesting racial perspective, but one that misses the possible reality: The Republicans are controlled by purveyors of a doctrine which is designed to impose “The Most Harm To The Most People.”

Look at the effects of their logic. Abortion is a good example — at the extreme, no abortion for any reason; the logic being to save a fetal life, even if it means killing the mother under conditions which will also result in fetal death. That is, Kill a real person — someone holding a birthright as defined in the Biblical texts — and a lump of genetic matter which could never become a person, rather than save the real person by destroying the lump while there is still time. We can look at the budget — unlimited spending on WMD’s but nothing for education and medical care. Which brings us back to abortion — mandate the creation of a child because a contraceptive product failed (a rubber broke) … then belittle the mother, and deny assistance for the child that they mandated be created (qualify for that Biblical birthright). They wave the Bible — and proclaim the very teachings which demand care be givien, then deny that care … the term is Hypocrisy … and all those who subscribe to its practice are, by the same teachings, denied salvation … thus, in the long term, achieving the ultimate level of “The Most Harm To The Most People.” It is those Hypocrites, purveyors of “The Most Harm” Obama

  • HUM … why not grant them the RIGHT of SECESSION? But make it conditional on them assuming the National Debt … They also assume ALL the Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare and related obligations for their people and anyone who resides in their territories. They agree and we wave goodbye. Look at the map… do we really need all that empty territory?
    Do we need their income?
How about their intellect? Is the average IQ of those states greater than that of the ones that would remain — if it isn’t, we can easily think past any potential loss…. and we could do it a lot easier if we didn’t have to support their elderly, and lazy, ignorant, hillbilly butts.
