  I have paid for social security and medicaid benefits for 40 years (since I was 15), and will continue to do so for at least another 10. 15% of my earnings up to 100k or so if one counts the employee matched funds. It will end up being 5 to 6 hundred thousand bucks, since I will have maxed out the “contributions” for 30 out of 50 years. So, yea, I will have earned my social security and medicaid benefits. The problem is labeling them “entitlements” rather than earned benefits. I would have rather kept the money sucked into the system and invested it myself: would have done a better job investing it than the government.
