If you mean 15 miles, that’s not quite so close so it would have drowned everyone. 1,000,000 inches / 12/ 5,280= 15 (approx) mi. Let’s say it’s three inches. That’s s 45 mile difference. go back 100,000,000 years- that’s only 4500 miles- out of 250,000 or 2% closer.

Having the girl step on the three point line doesn’t make her worse. It makes her aware. Making- of course there are winners and losers. And there is more than winning and losing. And if you don’t understand that, I feel sorry for you. If you can’t see that this isn’t right, there is something wrong with you. Kids (remember, kids? they aren’t adults) don’t learn from a drubbing. Losing teaches character… this destroys confidence and becomes a barrier to teaching. Obviously you’ve never worked with kids. Don- No mercy? Sounds like you were cheering on the wrong side of The Karate Kid. Bullies show no mercy. Competitors show sportsmanship and character. This is a question of character: the opposing coach showed little.

This is what drives me crazy about where people that call themselves conservatives. There was a time that reason and compassion would be at forefront, not a reactionary response to “the failing socialistic society.” These are children. They are not getting paid to play this game. The other coach knew before halftime that this was a possibility. Coaches have a responsibility to teach kids to win with grace as much as there is a responsibility to teach them to lose with dignity. Letting a bench player shoot 3′s (9 of them) without pulling her is his fault. Think about what’s right, not just what is “right.” Just because you can do a thing, doesn’t mean that you should do a thing.

Go to the article and read the full quote. He’s talking about how he runs away from God and from his calling: “He’s a very troubled and tumultuous man who fought greatly against God, against his calling.” Moses had a temper, he killed an Egyptian, runs away for 40 years, constantly argues with God and is punished for his temper by not being able to enter the Promised Land… look into things before you make snap judgements.

The Articles of Confederation were too weak to effectively run a government. The South lost the war in part because states (most notably Georgia) refused to let Davis and the government of the Confederacy draw taxes and sustain the war effort. GA even threaten to secede. If you’re going to give a history lesson, please know something about history.

Explain to me why no one admonishes people that make derogatory references to Jews or other races like Janet did? Is it because to tacitly (or directly) agree? Racial hatred has no place in this kind of discourse. People should be able to disagree without hatred. That burns me up.

That may be the dumbest comment ever. Prepare students to succeed in the 21st century by teaching them in the 19th. Great idea.

Common Core is nothing more than standards. It has problems, but it’s designed just like Next Generation standards or State standards. Common Core is put together by multiple states working together. It isn’t content but measurement. And the emphasis on instructional reading will make the study of original documents more likely not less.

Nationalism was a cause of WW1 not 2.

The sheer idiocy on this topic is amazing. There are reasons to dislike the Common Core, but no one here actually has mentioned one of them. You of the tinfoil hat brigade see devils everywhere, coming for your rights. But that hasn’t happened. But the fear of it drives an industry designed to keep you in fear. Here’s the truth about the Second Amendment. Gun ownership was also tied to mandatory local and state Militia participation. That was changed in 1902 by the Dick Act, which placed Militias under the control of State governors and unlinked gun ownership from any responsibilities. There was and has been a significant rise in the murder rate in this country since then, leveling off in the last decade, when al crime rates have dropped. But there was never a free for all gun culture. At least not until that happened. And you can see that without great responsibility, the great power of guns in America has produced three kinds of people: those that use them to create fear, those that hoard them out of fear and those that want some rational response to the other two.

You are an idiot, aren’t you?

They aren’t breaking a law. They do not serve time. There aren’t here legally, but that is different from being illegal. That is the problem. Someone thought it would be good to use an alliterative word to describe them. Why is it that legal immigration costs so much? Why is it that “illegal” immigration is net zero? Why is taking 12 years to become citizens or volunteering for the Army (ala the Dream Act) is wrong? Is it that this just plays into the neo-isolationist dogma pushed by the far right?

Um, Truhistory…Taft was a Republican. And he didn’t attack Mexico.

RANGER SKIPPY- you know what else is not Christian? Most of the posts you leave on this site. please stop identifying yourself as a Christian. It does a disservice to the one who’s name you bear. Or do you think Jesus would call people names? Attack people for their opinions that differ from you? Make racist jokes? Approve of the ridicule of the leader of your country? I’m sure He didn’t. And you? You who sit and call judgement on that you do not know. Your tired arguments and hateful tone is unbefitting of who you call master. Perhaps you will find on that day that not everyone who cries “Lord, Lord!” will be allowed in. “For when I was naked, did you clothe me? When I was in prison, did you visit? When I was hungry did you give me something to eat?”

You wanted a strict constructionist, you got one. Roberts followed the Constitution. Period. It’s stupid to think that this is the end of Freedom. You sound ridiculous when you are crying over a SCOTUS decision. The Heritage Foundation wrote this bill!!! It isn’t single-payer. It puts Billions into the hands of corporations and people will benefit. YOU will benefit.
