Leonard proves, “Youth and talent are no match for experience and treachery”

A few years ago a hive settled on some old steel trusses just off the ground behind my shop. I called the county extension office who gave me several numbers of beekeepers, but none were home. A few calls to friends later I reached a beekeeper in the middle of supper. He dropped his fork and came running. The guy wore NO protective clothing at all and captured an estimated 6,000 bees, taking 2 days to let them all crawl into his special transfer box. As payment, HE brought ME a quart jar of sourwood honey. MMmmmmMMMMmmm !

I once bought a 2 yr old car, was happy about the car and the price, until I got home and just for the heck of it, looked at the used car ads in that days paper. There in that dealership`s ad was my car, the featured car of the week, for $1,000. less than I`d contracted for. Was I bummed, until the next day when my bank called and said they`d also seen the ad, called the dealership and demanded they rework the contract for the advertised price. Whew ! What a wonderful and strange surprise !

As I read and understood it, there is the liquid-fueled Falcon Hybrid (jet & rocket ? or liquid & solid fuels ?) rocket engine and a V-8 internal combustion engine, the Cosworth CA2010 F-1 (Formula 1) engine.

Sounds beyond “adventurous” to me and way more than dangerous !

    Very Good ! :-)

Good advice; be very careful when giving demonstrations !

A friend of mine is the Personnel Mgr. at a local furniture factory. He told me of an employee who`s job it was to cut scrap boards into smaller pieces with a bandsaw so they would fit in a chipper. One day, he accidentally cut off his right thumb. A couple weeks later, when he`d recovered enough to return to the job to explain to the insurance investigator how the accident happened, yep, you guessed it, he cut off his left thumb ! True story !

Panhandling must pay off and deliver some desirable long-term benefits; I`ve seen the same guy at the ends of interstate off ramps in 3 different counties for nearly a year. He isn`t dirty, looks like he hasn`t missed a meal – ever, and I have to conclude that his sign works; it reads, “Dreaming of a Cheese Burger” !

    Ozgeek,

If you really want one, there`s a white one in the showroom at Waynesville Automotive, NC. Lists for $46,000+. Give `em a call at 828-452-2842; ask for Jean Fahey. Nice lady !

Looks to me that an out-for-the-summer school librarian got a part time job with the street dept. “Shhhh, school”

You can bank on it, Oblamer means that no one who is really culpable will be held to account, but blame WILL be thrown around, probably starting with Bush and the environment he passed on to this administration !

My personal fave is “Quadaphee”. Seems fitting for the world`s silliest dresser and perhaps the ugliest, now that Arafat is gone !

I`m certainly glad that the rider was not killed. I thank him for his service !

One thing is odd to me though, why was the camera following the rider ? Had he done something to attract attention ? It did look like he locked up the rear brake – smoke from the rear tire… It almost looks like the camera operator expected something !

NC already allows training wheels on motorcycles…..and yes, they look every bit as dorky as you might imagine ! They cause the “bike” to handle basically like a “trike”, except they are not as rigid, therefore, the motorcycle actually leans the wrong way in turns !

Full fledged trikes or bikes w/ sidecars are way less dorky; even cool !

    Hauschild,
I didn`t read all the comments or replies to your comment, so I apologize for any redundancy.
While there are several professional reasons for a female to use initials instead of full names, there is also the matter of security. Look in the phone book, or on mailboxes of females who you know live alone or are single parents…….there`s no need to advertise to a miscreant that you are a female alone !

    Just sayin` !

Gunny Ermey, upon becoming a Marine, swore to uphold and defend the constitution and this nation against all enemies from without and from within….

It appears to me that R. Lee recognized Obummer and his ilk as the enemy within and saw it as his DUTY to speak out ! It was absolutely THE RIGHT THING TO DO !!!

Gunny Ermey should not have apologized; no apology was needed, expected or desired !

Very interesting story – thanks ! And before I go on, thank you for your service !

I watched a doc. a few months ago that mirrored much of your version; that Emilia and her navigator were on a spy mission for the US. The ending was different though. This version posited that the mission was successful and that Emilia was given a new ID and lived out her remaining yrs. in NJ. The author gave a compelling picture overlap display that was remarkable !

I tend to give more credence to your version, you were there for much of it and the Islander`s and Japanese` stories that overlap well (jive)… While compelling, the doc. I saw just added more to the confusion and something else to make you go..HHHMMMMMM !

I`d say pretty much every angle of this attack has been covered, serious and humorous, except one ! Is this kid not old enough to have his own house key ?! I think I was 10 when Dad had keys for 2 doors made for me…..and a Post Office key at 14 ! Sheesh !

Of course, I rode Greyhound buses alone at 8 yrs old and was flying alone at 12 ! No otters on Piedmont Airlines !

#5 is a looooong time theme for Jim Davis` Garfield character. I cannot contort myself into a position required to see the Veterans Day slam ! Sorry !

Baaaaaad Hokey Pokey at that !

Putin is “driving” an F-1 car….not racing ! Sorry, I`m not being picky at you, it`s just that I`ve been around racing all my life, and the claim of “150 mph spin” is all hokey and pokey ! Maybe, just MAYBE, that spin occurred at 40 mph ! Maybe ! And why title the video with references to 240 kph when at no time does Putin reach triple digits ?! I just want truth in advertising !

At least Elaine`s “full-body dry heave” had purpose – it was meant to be funny !

Sadly for America, the Obama`s are batting 1,000 – everything they have done has been just plain wrong !
