  Dan Barker makes great points. He was the only one that stood up for ALL citizens…not just ones who think like he does.

  Atheism is inclusive, not exclusive.

  The Scouts are divisive and exclusive. Therefore promoting intolerance and bigotry by shutting out other citizens who want to participate in scouting activities.

  I mean, really, what ‘harm’ is it to include and expand into a more diverse group? Answer, it isn’t a harm at all. In fact, it would strengthen and modernize the scouts.

  Agreed. The Scouts should be more tolerant of other people’s perspectives….even atheists. Atheists in the scouts do not stop religious scouts from believing in their assumed god. Nothing would be taken away from the scouts by allowing atheists in.

  Also, what ‘values’ are the religious Scouts claiming anyway? Intolerance and bigotry?

  Religious people have a long history of discriminating, killing, and abusing people who simply do not believe as they do. What type of ‘morality’ or value is that really? Rational people call that hatred, and its far from a ‘value’.

  That’s completely false. You CAN prove love by looking at the way your family/partner/kids treat you….in their actions and words. Biologically speaking, you can even measure the chemical stimulus when the ‘love emotion’ is felt.

  Just because you can’t prove god exists doesn’t mean you can’t prove love exists…even in non-believers.

  Religion is simply fascism given a pleasant face.

  Discrimination is bigotry when it tells one group they are not welcome in tax-payer supported activities. The scouts get special treatment from the government, and yet it is divisive and exclusive to US citizens.

  Well said Locked. Granted, weather related events, or solar flares knocking out power, etc. are quite probable….these supernatural ‘rapture’ and ‘christ’ claims are, and have always been, just sheer speculation without a shred of evidence.

  Well if you ask enough people you are bound to get responses that are unrepresentative of the main group. That’s basic logic and statistics. In other words, this article is pointless spin.

  The very second O’Reilly’s name is mentioned you should think ‘spin job’. The man couldn’t find a fact in a library. He’s a paid shill for the wealthy, and will continue to push their agenda for power and profit. Period.

  Why not show the more accurate link to NASCAR and under-educated and overly religious states? That’s a far more accurate and honest link.

  NASCAR is for people who just don’t really like engaging their brain. It’s an incalculable waste of natural resources.

  I mean, it’s not hard to ‘master’ the basics of NASCAR. Go fast. Go left. Look like a walking billboard advertisement. Done.

  Sorry, but your hatred is a bit misplaced and misinformed. A fire and brimstone ‘hell’ is simply a man-made concept (ie. mythical), added by the Roman Catholic Church as ‘scare tactics’ to convert Pagans of that era.

  There was nothing about ‘hell’ in the original Hebrew bible translation. Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch.

  There were only words like ‘grave’, or graveyard (ie. the place of the dead), and other words that had no meaning of a ‘fire and brimstone place of eternal torture’. These words were twisted by aristocracy much later in history to imply a fiery hell of torture.

  Therefore, no hell = no place to be saved from.
  No place to be saved from = no need for a savior.
  No need for a savior = no more profiteering off the sheeple scams.

  Now go pay your 10% like a good little sheep and turn your brain off from questioning it. It’s your duty as a sheep to give them money to continue your brainwashing.
