Wow. That was the worst “interview” I have ever seen. It was the best non-interview I have ever seen. Talk about being a bully. My respect for Piers went from zero to negative.

You don’t shoot to wound nor to kill. You shoot to stop the threat, period.
What blows me away is after the first shot, they guys are running, but the old man keeps shooting and won’t be charged. I don’t know about other states but in Kalifornia, you cannot shoot someone who is running away. The imminent (or in some states, immediate) threat of death or severe injury is over if they’re running away, so deadly force is no longer warranted.
