It’s not a matter of being cool headed. You MUST be proficient in weapon use & articulate/justify your actions. Even if your state completely allows firearms, you are responsible for your actions, TAKE THAT RESPONSIBILITY! When using a weapon is allowed, it is usually accompanied by the term “defend” or “defense”. Be prepared to articulate your “defensive” actions. Aggressive or offensive actions will be scrutinized. Know the difference between the two.
Cops (most of them) fire multiple rounds when it is necessary to neutralize a situation. It’s not a matter of losing control. They are trained to continue fire until the threat is neutralized or does not exist.
Everyone should learn and practice this technic. Shoot only when its safe. Don’t kill bystanders! Shoot in defense of yourself or someone else. Shoot until the threat has stopped or is neutralized.

DO NOT MOVE OR TOUCH ANYTHING AFTER! Don’t try to enhance your story afterwards. Forensics do not lie! Articulate the threat you felt, articulate the offensive and aggressive actions of your attacker, articulate your defensive actions.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, go on the offensive. If you have the opportunity to retreat from a situation do it, anything else will be seen as an offensive action and you could be held responsible.

I dumped the republican party a long time ago. I encourage everyone, regardless of party, if your leaders are not conducting business as they promised, OR they are not doing what YOU want them to, DUMP THEM!!!

The Honorable Trey Gowdy is right. There comes a time when repair is not an option, when a “remodel” is insufficient to fix the problem. Often a cancer will not go away and must be cut out. After a severe frost bite, amputation is the only cure. If it isn’t done the entire body will die.

Our country is to the point where to ask for an apology or demand a resignation simply isn’t enough. It’s time America, it’s time to take drastic action. Right, Left, Conservative or Liberal, Socialist to Anarchist, it’s time to remove the rotten parts.

How can we survive as a country, as a society, or as individuals if we have become so callous that we dance as others suffer. Do we strike up the band as the ship sinks or do we wake from our slumber and drive out the wolves before the sheep are eaten.

Do we wait until we are actually a pile of ashes to rise as a Phoenix? It is said that you must hit rock bottom before you can bounce back. Are we there yet? Must we sink lower? I say NO! Be a Man! Put away childish things. You can do better, I can do better! WE can and must do better.

Abolish the IRS, NEA, NSA, EPA,TSA, and every other intrusive, invasive, obstructive, and domineering governmental program that steels our freedom and liberty. Our time is short. We must act now.

HEY GUN OWNERS, WAKE UP!!!! Defending yourself doesn’t mean chasing someone down and shooting them.

You are giving the entire gun owner crowd a bad name. PLEASE, take a gun course or something. Learn the difference between an “Offensive” action and a “Defensive” action. Once you do that, THEN learn to control your emotions and thoughts.

Be a responsible gun owner. Stop REACTING to situations. LEARN, THINK, PRACTICE, THEN RESPONSIBLY ACT!

Until you do that, the anti-gun crowd will always find more ammunition than you will.

You need to reconsider this story. I contacted the Police Department and got their side of the story and it sounds like they were justified in their actions.

It is now MY opinion that Thompson was not justified in shooting his rifle at or near Kinsella. Thompson was cited and released for unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and reckless endangering. His gun was seized as evidence. He will get his day in court to explain his actions. I hope he gets a fair trial and his gun back.

Kinsella was placed in jail on the warrants only, not for any threats, theft, or attempting to access Thompsons apartment.

I know many of you think Thompson did the right thing, but in this case he exceeded the law, and more importantly, he exceeded his rights. The Medford Police were correct in their actions. You or I don’t know Kinsellas intents, maybe he was there to cause harm we don’t know. But we, same as the police, must act on evidence and facts only.

You do have the right and responsibility to defend yourself. But defend means defensive. You should never take an offensive position. Once your actions turn from defensive to offensive, you risk being prosecuted.

If you are determined to exercise your rights to arm yourself, as I feel you should, then you must also accept your responsibility of facts, evidence, and the rights of others. Thompson was not threatened and should not have pursued or fired his weapon. Doing so is considered as “offensive” not “def
