You know, I hate to be Debbie Downer here, but at the end of the story they told how the accident happened. They pulled in front of an oncoming truck. Touching, but at the same time this is why people over 80-ish shouldn’t have licenses.
I knew there'd have to be somebody with a pail of water to shed light on what we probably all know.
they say all love affairs end in sorrow....as one will die and the other goes on alone in sadness..I no longer believe this...
As I stated to another poster on another article: "You will now be known as Buzzkillington" Thanks for your insight.
p.s. when you're "80-ish" I wonder if you'll feel the same?
Subcaption, I know what you mean. My father-in-law is 85 and it scares the heck out of me when he decides he`s driving down to Florida by himself.
hey debbie downer.....aka subcaptain,
My dad is 83, he runs a 110 acre cattle ranch and works circles around 20 year olds. He drives a big F-250 and is probably a better driver than you. Definitely better than I. Might want to amend your ill advised statement that elderly people maybe should be evaluated by their doctor and/or have to retake driver test every couple of years to keep license or something along those lines. Maybe their family should have stepped in like most do and done something but I would submit that lumping everyone in the same category is typically liberal and not normally a good idea. Would be something akin to zero tolerance rules at schools. Just moronic!
Sub - are you saying no other age group EVER accidentally pulls out in front of oncoming vehicles? No other age group makes an error while driving? So in your opinion, this accident happened, so now ALL people over 80-ish shouldn't have licenses? Wow. that is QUITE the leap. You must know ALL about this accident. How there was no sunlight making it difficult to see, no bushes obscuring their view, no reason for the accident except their age......right? Huh. Maybe you could share the accident report with us.
My grandmother lived to be 110 and was sharp as a tack until the end. She drove well into her 90s, never had an accident, and for her last 15 years or so, lived in a small community and drove a golf cart. According to you, she should have been confined to walking or begging rides for the last 30 years of her life. Nice blanket pronouncement about a whole bunch of people.
Or maybe we should just - oh, I dunno - TEST people for their licenses, so ensure they can perform the tasks needed to be reasonably safe on the road.
Excuse me, but my dad is 92 and is an incredible driver. I know many who are and I'd much rather have THEM on the road than all you texting, cell phoning, face stuffing, audio adjusting, drinking, drugging, distracted drivers who are killing and maiming FAR more people in car accidents than seasoned citizens. If they can pass the tests, they have the right to drive just like everyone else. Some of the best and safest drivers are over 80.
This type of accident is very common among adults of all ages.
Yeah, I guess accidents only happen when you get older. I do not support ANYONE driving who is not competent to drive AND there are a lot of people, you and old who should not be driving. Let's let the people who issue licenses determine who is competent to drive.
Also family members should be able to alert police and DMV officials to dangerous situations. Lacking that, unplugging the car's computer ain't a bad idea...
Once upon a time, shut up.
And we all lived happily ever after.
If a career welfare recipient has a right to vote for an incompetent kenyan muslim for potus, a taxpaying elderly has a right to drive. get a life.
Imagine how the poor truck driver feels. This'll hang over him for the rest of his life.
Sub.... I guess if have only 4 more years to drive... according to you. Now I'm wondering how I'm going to get to work if I can't drive. I own a construction company and I still work with my tools.. gonna be tuff getting my scaffolds, ladders, etc to the jobs if I have to put them in a push cart.
Typical liberal bs.
I was about to say the same thing, when you can't mow the lawn maybe you should not be behind the wheel. They might could have taken out a young couple looking forward to a life of love like they had.
Old people aren't the only ones who do things like that...Younger people do it all the time.

Headline is wrong; Only 6 rifles were taken, the rest were handguns. Regardless, if ballistics from a gang shooting brings up one of the stolen guns it won’t surprise me…

Not necessarily true. Just because someone is a Christian doesn’t mean they don’t want some former porn model teaching their children. Teen boys shouldn’t have a teacher they can look at and KNOW what’s under her clothes. Most school Districts, the one I work for included, have dress codes in place specifically to prevent that. Being Christian does mean to forgive, but it also means raising your kids the best way you can.

But, his final number was apps per DAY, not per year. 500/365=1.369, so less than 1.9. Besides, 500 a year still isn’t that much. I handle that many computer repairs in about 6 months at my school district job, with a userbase of 12,000 staff and students. That much work really isn’t that hard.

Yes, it may have been started in 1985, but if you read the page it said that they offered wireless discounts in 2005, which was under Bush. I’m a conservative Republican, but you both are wrong.

There needs to be changes made that allows people to resist illegal actions by the Police; I for one wouldn’t have stood by and let them beat ANYONE to death. I would have pulled on the cops.
Then we would be reading about you Captain. Even if you took them all out and saved the guys life, you would be in the headlines as a cop killer. We can't win this with a shoot out.
I'm sure someone would be protecting him with their concealed carry permit. Gangs of murderers are gangs of murderers, regardless if they are wearing badges. When killers disguised as police do something like this, we need the closest 100 people to step in and put a stop to it.
It is time to step up and defend ourselves from our government. Defense being the key word.
You, of course, are correct. Had even 50 or so armed citizens been there and calmly but seriously trained their arms on these base cowards, disarmed them and turned them in, these kind of acts would not be possible for much longer. (Either that or we'd be at war.) Sadly, the govt wants us thinking that they're doing all only for our benefit, and that we can't think clearly enough to stand up for our own defense, and certainly not enough to act in response to something they and their thugs are doing.
