  The 2nd amendment acknowledges the right of American citizens to fight a tyrannical government and the right to arm themselves with the tools to oppose a tyrant’s army. This goes beyond small arms. The Founders had cannons. Short of WMDs law abiding citizens should be allowed to purchase any and all weapons of war. If they can afford an rpg, flamethrower, tank, or fighter jet more power to them. We whine and moan anytime a gun ban rears it’s head but the truth is our right to wage war has been so infringed by the government we should have rebelled a long time ago.

  I always see Jasser trotted out as an Islamic leader. Who is he a leader of? How many followers, specifically Muslims, does he have? How many people, specifically Muslims, are members of his group? Is he a religious leader or Imam? What Jasser says sounds nice, but Muslims aren’t listening. He’s a political prop pulled out after every attack to play the sensible Muslim. He gives peace of mind to Americans who don’t want to face the reality that the only solution to the problem is to give the Muslims the same choice they would force on us… convert or die. I see no path to coexistence. It is an evil religion. The vast majority of the religious leaders are not only Islamists but open supporters of violent jihad. A lot of good people on the right don’t have the stomach for what must be done. And what must be done is the total eradication of Islam as a religion. It truly is us or them.

  Agree with Glenn on this one. The government that denies the rights of one citizen today will deny the rights of all citizens tomorrow. Yes this guy is a terrorist. But the government will one day say you are a terrorist for owning a gun or speaking your mind. If you have a problem with this guy being read his Miranda rights find a way to overrule the ridiculous Miranda court ruling or fix the broken visa and naturalization process so terrorists don;t become citizens. Remember, these guys were known suspects and at least one was interviewed by the FBI. But this surviving jihadi is a citizen. It sucks but he is. And as such he has the same rights we do. Surprised so many alleged right wingers are willing to give up liberty for a temporary security.
