The Church probably has many opportunities for the youth to help with, such as working the local community meals program, taking food to shut-ins, visiting the homebound, collecting clothing and food for the needy and delivering it, shoveling snow for those who can’t. The church is not just a building, it is a community of people, many of whom need help with daily tasks. They could absolutely do their community service at the church.

I hope the Mom is getting help in identifying the individual(s) to whom the daughter was sending photos and with whom she was having “relations” with. Pedophile alert if ever there was one.

you took the words right out of my mouth. They can do their own music fest. Nugent and Metallica and Madison Rising with the Lt Dan Band thrown in for good measure–would be a great July 4th celebration! All proceeds to go to Veterans medical expenses

I remember in the early, mid 70′s we could get AM WLS Chicago on clear nights. That may not seem so odd except for the fact we are in the far southwest tip of Indiana (about a 7hour drive to Chicago). Cant get any AM radio in the house anymore–too much other interference in the atmosphere.

As a Catholic, I wonder the same thing about Nancy Pelosi. She doesn’t follow the teachings of the Catholic Church and yet i wonder how many priests and bishops have told her not to receive Communion unless she REPENTS of her sins (abortion, contraception, etc). Maybe the leaders are telling them but they a) are not listening, or b) do not even go to their respective services/masses. Kathleen Sebelious was told she could not receive Communion as long as she supported abortion and contraception. Now, the question is, is she following that? And it really ticks me off that Obama gave Nancy the blessed rosary from the Pope. Nancy just received the Margaret Sanger award. Anyone receiving the Margaret Sanger award does not respect life and the dignity of every person and should not be calling themselves Catholic. She says she represents us, but I don’t know any practicing Catholic who believes or supports Pelosi.

With all the money we have given to the UN and UNICEF over the years, supposedly for helping build up medicine in 3rd world countries, and they still dont have adequate medical care? Not surprised. Have known for a long time that the UN misuses money. Many have been saying it and it bears repeating: US out of the UN and UN out of the US.

Many of us are thinking the same thing….this was the norm when i grew up in the 70′s. Why is it so uncommon that it make the news? Sigh…

Saving lives?? How about the women who commit suicide or become alcohol or drug dependent because they cant deal with the fact that they killed their own child? How are their lives saved?

Living in SW Indiana (which has 2 different time zones), it really stinks that we can’t have fireworks until almost 10pm on July 4th. No reason we should be on the same time as New York (21 hours away) and not St. Louis (4 hours away). Not to mention that it is unsafe for children waiting for the bus in the dark on school mornings.

For some people, this is our downtime. I work 2 jobs, 6 days a week, and Sunday is my free day. I go to mass early morning with Dad, then go to his house in the afternoon. We watch football, cook dinner, talk politics and generally relax. Now that football is over, we will watch college basketball. And we do not have our heads in the sand. But, like you (in your comment below) I do not watch very many movies, or listen to music of certain genres so i am with you on that. i don’t even own a tv (best decision i ever made).

and was anybody really buying her “belief” in the Founders and their ideals? The reading was great up to that point. They should have just had the athletes and soldiers and left her out of it. My dad is a Korean vet and a strong patriot and those two ladies ruined it for him (and many other people).

Shannon Watts you only want to shut down Dana because you know her knowledge and sound arguments will prove you wrong. I dont own a tv, but if i did i would watch that wretched show just to see Dana silence all those girls. You know she will bring it. i stand with Dana.

We wonder the same thing. Kathleen Sebelius was told by her Bishop she could no longer receive Communion as long as she supported abortion. Whether or not she, or any other pro-choice politician, still go to Church and receive Communion is anybody’s guess. I think, but do not know, that they only use the Catholic label to garner more votes. Any Catholic who knows the teachings of the Church does not vote for these people. Unfortunately, there are not enough of us in their districts to overcome the votes of the pro-choicers and uninformed voters. My own community (many Catholics and Protestants) has many democrats, but if you talk to them and watch how they live, they are very conservative, both fiscally and socially. They only vote democrat because their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents did. I dont understand it either.

Not all people who call themselves Catholics are actually practicing. Some were raised in the Church but now only attend on Christmas and Easter. We were not properly cathechized in the 1970′s, so many from this generation dont know the teachings of the Church. Practicing Catholics, and those of us who have come back, do know the teachings of the Church and we DO vote pro-life and vote AGAINST the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Unfortunately, we are a small number now. The new generation of Catholics coming up (20′s and 30′s and their children) are very strong in their faith and will bring the Church back. In the meantime, please dont judge all Catholics on the basis of Nancy Pelosi types. God Bless and have a great week!

Planned Parenthood gives millions of (our tax) dollars to other countries for “women’s reproductive health”‘ including birth control and abortions. (this info can be found in their public record tax returns in case you’re interested) Obviously, Planned Parenthood isnt doing a very good job of teaching how to use those items. Promoting contraception and giving it to people has done NOTHING to bring down the number of abortions. 50 million children have been aborted since 1973 (in the US alone), even though birth control is readily available EVERYWHERE.
