It’s sad to see such misguided pleas. I grieve for those children, but disarming future victims and advocating for “common sense” gun laws would not have changed this outcome or future, similar instances. We have a mental illness and crime problem to address, not a gun ownership or gun design/capability/capacity problem.
The fact of the matter is that Lanza (also, underage), Loughner and Holmes were not adjudicated as “mentally defective” and still would have had access to guns under the proposed law. Let’s solve the REAL problems, instead of passing feel-good, “common sense” legislation. BTW, if I hear the poll-tested phrase “common sense gun laws” one more time, I think I will puke! Are people really THAT stupid and easily misled?
We deserve better from our Senators and Representatives.

It was a disgusting and disgraceful display. The staff response that he in no way intended to link the deaths of these Marines with sequester rings hollow. I like Allen West’s suggestion that he stand with the Commandant of the Marine Corps and make a public apology to assembled Marines – on THEIR home turf.

These corporations aren’t doing anything, except paying the least amount of tax, legally possible. That is exactly what they pay their accounting firms to do. The result is what you expect from an 80K page tax code – lots of loopholes and gaming.
Don’t blame the companies – blame the legislators. I’m also suspicious that some companies are lobbying for unique breaks, but that is secondary. The Congress still owns the outcome.
