I don’t understand why so many assumed “men” on here make such a big deal about this. I’m a male, quite straight, yet am able to appreciate what this guy is doing. Good for him.

This type of thing is nothing new, especially where tires are concerned. One easy way to increase the mpg numbers is to manufacture a car with tires that are designed to roll easily. Problem is the more you go that direction the less friction (drag) you have which equals less traction. On more than one occasion I’ve been behind the wheel of a new vehicle with standard issue tires that would break free for morning dew or a less than perfectly planned turn. Inevitably, almost new tires would be replaced with more realistic, ie safer, all around performance ones and in doing so the fuel economy would easily fall off 2-3 mpg.
