  • Dear Mr. McDermott,

#1 – “scrutiny” is not what is in question – it is the UNDUE and unconstitutional scrutiny that was poured on to these Conservative groups.

#2 – Your diatribe about scrutiny to protect the taxpayers would be believable – if only Leftist groups had been subjected to similar scrutiny – but that argument falls flat in the face of radical Liberal groups getting ZERO scrutiny – and even Islamic terrorist front groups getting free passes from the IRS.

  • There are lots of folks who hunt wild pigs with an AR-15. And it is practically perfect for Coyotes.

  • Boehner to Reid: ‘Go F**k Yourself’

    January 2, 2013 at 3:37pm

Does anyone here really believe this is what it appears to be? Publicly, these two are bitter enemies – but just has been the norm in DC – outside the public eye – they are still “good old boys”… This is nothing but a show. Boehner and Reid are scamming America like a cheap prostitute in Calcutta…

  • SENDTHEMETEORS – Actually, the so-called “Bush Tax Cuts” did spark the economy that was beginning to falter near the end of the Clinton administration. Things clicked along until 9/11, and even then, the post attack recover was aided by the lower tax rates. Indeed, things continued until the Democrats won control of CONgress at which point, many things began to crumble in the economy (not the least of which – an abandonment of passing an actual budget).

  • Total BS.

  • Seriously? We are going to try to play games with the 2nd amendment? You had better do some serious study of what the 2nd Amendment was about – and it wasn’t “recreational shooting” or “hunting”. It was about having a population that was armed with weapons adequate to the task of providing support in the defense of our nation from threats both foreign and domestic. Yes, the same founding fathers also believed in hunting and self-defense – but the reason they enshrined the right to keep and bear arms was to make absolutely certain there were enough weapons to prevent not only an invasion from outside, but to regulate our own government. The founders clearly wanted to put the power in the hands of the citizens to prevent tyranny. Ultimately, the hope is that the weapons would never be needed in this latter application. So the whole “logical need” argument just doesn’t fly. Period. Indeed, if we look at the weapons of the day – the flintlocks and other firearms citizens were encouraged to own amounted to the latest and greatest weapons available.

Name ONE gun that has ever killed someone all by itself. Just one. If we begin outlawing or restricting inanimate objects because they may be USED to hurt or kill someone, we will soon be walking around naked with no food… Long before there were firearms, people were still quite good at killing one-another. Take away guns from law-abiding citizens, and those with nefarious plans will still be killing.

  • RULE #1 of firearms handling: NEVER point it at anything you are not prepared to destroy. Period.

Had this father obeyed rule #1, then a round in the chamber would have been irrelevant. And the tragedy of this case – is not only that the father lost a son by his own ignorance and carelessness, but he has provided yet more ammunition for those who would strip us of our 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms.

    Praying for the family involved.

  • I’ve not seen a “white” deer in the wild, though would really enjoy it.

The antler issue, though, isn’t so rare or odd. Many years ago, my father harvested a buck with similar-sized antlers – and the one on one side came down much like the one in the picture, except it curved in towards the deer’s nose. Was really strange to say the least.

  • @ASHESTOASHES,

Then you had better not visit my facebook page – as there are pictures of my 8 year-old daughter with her first deer harvest – a young 4pt buck. The grin on her face (and the one on my you obviously can’t see in the pictures) are a memory we will share for life!

I’m so glad you support our 2nd Amendment rights to “keep and bear arms”. It is just unfortunate that you seem so personally offended that there are people who still enjoy harvesting their own wild game for the dinner table (not to mention the fellowship and memories). What a sheltered youth you must have had – one that included nothing of the real pleasures of life, which in part include the right and enjoyment of hunting and fishing.

As far as the hunters in the story – more power to them. They broke no laws, they harvested a real trophy, and again – have memories that will last a lifetime. A hearty “congratulations” to them.

  • Amazing Kool-Aide drinking loyalty there, Mr. Man-on-an (imaginary)-Mission!

Nothing like the traditional Leftist tactic of avoiding the facts, and instead spewing either vitriol or straw arguments (like saying “what you would do” in an imaginative and unrealistic way).

Obama is a Muslim (regardless of his claimed faith). Obama is an anti-Colonialist – but not in the vein of our founding fathers. He is all about undoing what has been done – in other words, everything that made the US successful and prosperous for 200 years is “evil”. So systematically destroy that – bring the US to its knees so that it is more “fair” in relation to the rest of the world.

But none of this is possible – with a strong military.

And lest we forget how the military works – the President is the Commander In Chief. What he says is the law for the military. The CEO of a company tells departments that they WILL cut spending, because the money isn’t coming. So the heads of that department prepare a budget that reflects cutbacks. Said CEO then goes before the board with that budget and says “see – department XYZ wants less of ________”

That is exactly what Obama has done to the military – the commanders who are in charge of the branches do what they are told. To deal with diminishing funding – they cut back their expectations/requests for equipment and men. Now the President takes those requests and uses them to “verify” his statement that “the military hasn’t even as
