  • They are most definitely all talk. The New Black Panthers are a tiny, insignificant organization that pretty much only gets attention from right wing websites that like to drum up controversy and fear. They frequently inject themselves into large gatherings by other organizations and confuse people with their name into thinking they are a more legitimate or historically based group. However, the original members of the Black Panther party have repeatedly denounced the NBPP and even sued them over their use of the name. Meanwhile, they’re on the list of almost every hatespeech watchdog group in the country including the Antidefimation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

These guys have little to no traction and almost everyone sees them for what they are. Like the Israelites (not Israelis, but the black separatist group that goes by this name) and a number of other groups, they are small, insignificant, and are frequently considered too extreme even by members of the Nation of Islam. They’re also complete attention grabbers and you can expect they’ll never actually make good on any threats; they just want to be on TV. I live in DC and these guys used to come by my highschool trying to recruit kids (my school was almost all black) and people would just laugh, roll their eyes, or argue with them. If the Blaze stops running articles about them they’ll fade out forever I think XD

  • Seriously, Blazers? I know some of you like to jump back and forth between here and Stormfront, but I also know there’s plenty of folks on this site who are just hardcore tea partiers with no interest in being associated with a hatemonger. For the record, this is a guy who has repeatedly said the blacks are inferior to whites in almost every aspect of life except for physical prowess and that therefore you generally shouldn’t trust, work with, or spend time near blacks.

This is also a guy who said that the country would be better off if women had their right to vote taken away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3P2YduuCm0

The guy is just a jerk. There’s plenty of conservatives being attacked by liberals for you to defend without needing to associate yourself with someone like this guy…

  • Why don’t you show me some of the stories where you find bias, TexasFarmer?

  • I notice there’s virtually 0 criticism of the actual content of ProPublica here, just speculation about what they MIGHT do because of some of their backers.

Anyone who’s ever read ProPublica (even the author of this article pretty much says this) knows that it is created by reputable journalists in a non-partisan fashion. They try to avoid speculation and hype, unlike just about everyone else, and instead focus on hard facts and numbers. Most of their articles are quite plain and boring, without any sensationalism. It’s the kind of journalism that should be valued by people across the political spectrum.

I challenge anyone here to actually show real bias in ProPublica’s REPORTING.

  • They aren’t dissimilar. That’s for sure. And just like the KKK they are utterly irrelevant and even many extreme racists won’t bother listening to them. It’s only at a place like the Blaze where they actually get attention to drum up alarmism.

  • Despite the inflammatory stuff you read on this site, 95% of the protest and outrage about this incident is simply because Zimmerman has had no legal action taken against him. The issue isn’t “a black kid was shot by someone who wasn’t black” the issue is “a black kid was shot and the shooter wasn’t, so the police decided to give him the benefit of the doubt instead of engaging in standard procedure.”

Personally, I don’t like that the mainstream media is doing so much to weigh in on the case. I think it’s foolish and will prevent Zimmerman from potentially ever getting a fair trial, and it misses the whole point. The issue is about police corruption, and whether or not the Sanford police department’s supervisors (considering the detective on the case wanted Zimmerman arrested but was told not to by his Lieutenant) can be trusted to fairly police crimes with black victims.

The reason the shooting you listed, and pretty much every other shooting people compare this to, hasn’t received the same level of national attention is because in those cases the SHOOTER WAS ARRESTED. Shawn Tyson is getting life in prison. There’s no societal issue here; someone did something messed up, and is now going to spend his life in jail for it. Maybe Zimmerman was acting in self defense, maybe he’s crazy, maybe he’s just vicious…I don’t know and neither do you. What I do know is that even with the “stand your ground law” Zimmerman should have been/be arrested and tried.

  • Nothing says “I’m just looking for the facts of what really happened” like linking to website that uses racial slurs to tag its blog posts. Classy.

  • If I’m unarmed and walking down the street to visit my family and a car slowly stalks me without explanation, I get ready to defend myself. If a large stranger then proceeds to get out of the car with a gun in his hand and he’s clearly not a cop, I get ready to defend myself.

Personally, I don’t buy a single anonymous witness coming forward to the news days after the controversy is brewing to contradict several other witness reports. But let’s say his/her account is true for a moment…

48 hours ago most people on this site were ready to blame Trayvon Martin for getting himself shot by acting suspicious (wearing a hoodie, being in the wrong place/wrong time, etc.) Shouldn’t the same logic apply to Mr. Zimmerman? Doesn’t stalking and then approaching a total strange on the street at night while you have a gun set you up to look like a criminal intending harm? By the same logic, isn’t it then somehow Mr. Zimmerman’s responsibility that he was attacked? Why the double standard? Doesn’t Trayvon Martin (or any of us) have a right to defend himself from an armed, aggressive stranger?

  • Leave it to the Blaze to report nothing on the Trayvon Martin case until something bad is said about white people. Never mind the fact that a boy was murdered for carrying skittles and a soda and walking to visit his family without bothering anyone simply because of his race. This isn’t speculation. The 911 call was released and its abundantly clear that Mr. Zimmerman repeatedly says black people are criminals and that he assumes the boy is one because of his race. He goes so far as to use a racial epithet (c–n) during the call to the police, stalks the boy down the street and then murdered him for doing nothing. The law meanwhile is protecting this man, and it goes far beyond the “castle” law which is causing legal difficulties. Reports also show that witnesses claimed they heard Trayvon (a young boy) calling for help, and that police officers “corrected” those witnesses during interviews to say that Mr. Zimmerman called for help. There’s a stench of racially motivated corruption in the case that people have a right to be upset about.

The Blaze didn’t report on an innocent black boy being murdered for his race. An actual, racially motivated death. However, some extremist nutcases make empty threats against his killer and THIS the Blaze considers newsworthy. Actual racially motivated murder= not worth knowing about. Some random angry black folks though? NOW THAT’S A STORY!

  • HAHAHA All the comments on this site about how great it would be if DC got nuked are SO FUNNY. I think it would be HILARIOUS too if over half a million innocent people were incinerated in a nuclear explosion! I mean who cares if people who mostly voted for Obama die right? Liberty is all about not valuing the lives of people who disagree with you politically! GREAT JOKES.
