I love your name. It's one of my favorite Book of Mormon stories. I found a video (for kids) telling the story, but reading this story in the actual scriptures gave me chills. This country is sacred to the Lord. It gives me hope. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46.12-13?lang=eng#11

The thing that aggravates me is not that this video is wrong. It’s that people say socialism is the answer. Income inequality is significantly worse than it used to be, but that’s because we are significantly more socialist than we used to be.

Encore! That was awesome. XD

Mormons have been in Boy Scouts since the beginning. The claim that we weren’t is false. It looks like it will change though.

It used to be the other way around. I wonder what happened.

@theotherberean I find it ironic that one of the things you attack us mormons for is being different from mainstream Christianity. Let me ask you this simple question: Are you a protestant? Because in the 1400s and 1500s Protestantism was hardly mainstream. And it was also called unchristian by many Christians of the time. Who are you to tell me that I am not a follower of Christ? I am not perfect but neither are you or anybody else.
I know that Jesus Christ is The Only Begotten Son of God, that He lived a perfect life and died to atone for our sins, and I know that He lives!
Half the population of Saudi Arabia has ZERO personal and ZERO economic freedom yet is not in the bottom ten???

This is an exceptional article. It should be clear to everyone that technology, not political activism, is the answer to environmental concerns.

I know you guys will attack me for saying this, but this isn’t actually what they are supposed to believe. If you payed attention, you’d notice it doesn’t actually refer to Jews and Christians, it refers to those who worship false deities.(They worship the Judeo- Christian God) The one where it does refer to the children of Israel it condemns them for not following Christ and the Hebrew prophets, which was something Christians also used as an excuse to kill Jews up through the Holocaust. Up until modern muslim clerics corrupted their beliefs into something shameful, Muslim countries practiced a principle known as the children of the Book. Look it up, during the middle ages they had more freedom of religion than Europe. What their religion has been twisted into in modern times is terrible but you have to remember, many don’t follow that brand and its not what they’re actually supposed to believe. The reason I wrote this is because I am sick of of you guys attacking others beliefs. You cry foul when atheists attack mainstream Christianity, yet the moment you hear the word Muslim, or even Mormon or whatever else, you scream “Kill them all!” That is hardly Christian. And that last statement, that muslims identify as muslims more than citizens of any country? Let me ask this, don’t you identify as Christians more than as Americans? I do.
Any God but Allah is a false one. You should pay better attention..not us.
Is there any reason why Christianity seems to be the biggest target of opposition while systems of belief such as Islam, Buddhism, Wiccan, and others are virtually ignored by Atheist Opposition?
The +JESUS+GOD+ of Abraham,Issac & Jacob is who all Judeo Christians believe in,no one is forced to believe,,,+JESUS+GOD+ want all to be saved,,,+JESUS+GOD+ add no sorrow.

This is absurd. Our public school system is an embarassment. It is managed extremely poorly. It should be privatized. Charter schools on average are far better than public schools. Same funding, same source, but the private management makes a big difference.
This is the difference between the libs in the big cities and the common sense enjoyed in "fly over country". Why any one would want to live in or near a big city like Philly is beyond me.

I had been thinking about this before, but I had no clue that we were already developing it! This is absolutely remarkable! Bravo for synthetic biology!

This was cool.

@deavonrye I am surprised by this, but I agree with you wholeheartedly. A much as I wish religion was not ignored in schools, being a member of a minority religion, I cannot support something that would take away the freedom of people like me. If there was prayer in public schools it would probably be of a catholic, or baptist, or a non-denominational brand. As a Mormon I am quite certain I would be ignored. People should be allowed to pray according to their own conscience, be they mormon like me, catholic, evangelical, mainstream protestant, russian orthodox, jewish, muslim, buddhist, unafilliated, etc. That is something that I am happy to fight and die for.

Great idea JohnnyinthePedros, I would buy them. This story makes me sick. Rubber turtles with spikes in their backs would both help real turtles and teach the morons doing this a lesson.

Jeez people, chill off will you? It’s called a fluff story and all news groups do them. There is nothing political or at all inflammatory about this story, so I am baffled at all the bitterness.

That is a very scary thought. However I’m not sure taking away the tax-exempt status would have that effect. Here is an awesome video about separation of church and state. It’s really good and he starts talking about what taking away the tax exempt status would do at 4:04 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Hy306pGmU
