  • Francis will be a sign of contradiction to those who can only view the world through political eyes. SE Cupp’s interest in how Francis will pull people right (based on his pro-life/marriage work) or left (concern for the poor) bears this out. People who are compelled to put everything into Republican or Democrat boxes are going to have a hard time understanding Francis, just as they have a hard time understanding Ron Paul’s views on foreign intervention and war. I’ll enjoy watching the heads of Glenn Beck and his Blaze visitors spin.

  • The Blaze said “the far-right (often dubbed neo-nazi) Jobbik party”. This kind of “dubbing” is entirely unfair. I lived in Hungary for quite some time. Jobbik is nationalist, not “nazi”. They believe in defending the rights of Hungarians no more or less than many of the Blaze reads staunchly defend such a right for America. Jobbik objects to blindly giving a stamp of approval to whatever political decisions that Israel makes. They are correct to call this out as a national security threat.

But, to hold the position that the Israeli government has made unjust, unfair, or imprudent decisions is to be labeled a “nazi” in 2012.

  • The Blaze said: “In a recent comment he pulled the two together titling a post on his website as ”The CIA Is Every Bit as Secretive as the Federal Reserve.”

    1) The website (ronpaul.com) is not “his” (Paul’s). It clearly states that it is a “fan site.”

    2) It was not “a recent comment”. This was made back in January of 2010.

Geez. What kind of “journalism” is this, Blaze?

  • D’Souza said in his statement that he didn’t share a room with the woman in “Charlotte”.

The article that out’ed him was specific: “Comfort Suites” in “Spartanburg” (that SC, 75 miles from Charlotte in NC). A “suite” has multiple rooms.

So, technically, he can say that a “room” was not shared in “Charlotte”.

That’s how these things get defended, folks.

  • This response smacks of legalese.

D’Souza said: “Nor did we share a hotel room in Charlotte.”

But the article cited “nearby Comfort Suites” in “Spartanburg, SC”. Spartanburg is 75 miles away in another state.

Also, “suites” have separate bedrooms. So, it is entirely possible to not share a bedroom but share a suite.

  • Imagine the outrage if it was George Soros, the head of the Black Panthers, or some other lib who did what Glenn is doing: giving speeches from an Oval Office replica.

Put on your thinking caps, folks. The message — good as it might be — will be lost to the deep symbolism of the context. And the context screams “Obama is not my President” which is just as divisive as “Bush is not my President.”

  • Sorry, but it is hard to not laugh out loud when the guy who runs Markdown.com and his own designer clothing website preaches about the unimportance of material possessions. Eight years ago, Glenn described himself as “a rodeo clown.” I liked him better back then. A man who incessantly shouts what he finds does neither himself nor his messages any good.

  • What does it mean to say that this article is by “The Blaze / AP”? That Blaze staff read the AP report, do no other journalistic follow-up, then pick/choose its own parts of the story?

This article says that “two dozen gunmen burst into” the casino and “doused it”. But the other accounts that I’ve read say that it was six men who first asked to see the manager, were refused, then left and returned later.

I bring this up only because there have now been MANY similar conflicts with Blaze “reporting” versus other media. Even their own “reports” are suspect – i.e. the Blazes’s claim several weeks back that LeBron James knocked a kid down then taunted him, which the site’s own video did not even corroborate.

I hope that this site is not becoming the very thing that it claims to despise in the main stream media.
