  It was my understanding that you can’t be compelled to incriminate yourself or a family member. By unlawfully detaining his son (no Miranda rights were read) under false pretenses, those cops may have gotten themselves fired, since it could be construed as false imprisonment, harassment, and even abuse of a minor.

  He was apparently combative and could be interpreted as non-cooperative. It’s the officers’ discretion -rightly or wrongly- to have the situation play out according to their judgement. So there’s a lot they can get away with, again not saying I agree,

  The test and standards are pretty empirical and straightforward. At least that is apparently the intent. The problem is when those who are willing to use government to achieve political ends get involved, and bend curricula and standards so that they indoctrinate and then students have to learn the indoctrinary material. The federal government is trying to control education just like everything else by using the power of money to coerce the states into doing what it wants. We’ve seen the dangers of centralized authority (Hitler, Mao) and what happens when no one can oppose it (disarmed population).

  The goal is to DISARM ANY LEGAL GUN OWNER BY WHATEVER MEANS without creating an obvious constitutional violation. It is clearly in some political stakeholders’ interest to have a disarmed population. It is called paving the way for (easy) imposition of things like martial law and other kinds of constraints on our freedoms. Who would not conclude that their agenda is to take away our freedom and enslave us eventually. It’s a long war, and a long-term game. They will use any and all crises, incidents like Sandy Hook, or legal manipulations to reach this goal. It is clear that there is a point where they have reached 51% of the civil power (judges, bureaucracies, law enforcement) that the rest of the power grab will be simple. Once we have no legal means of fighting them, we become morally, historically, and constitutionally empowered to resist by all other means.

  I don’t see why those passengers on 9/11 fought back. Didn’t they get the memo? You’re supposed to cower and keep your head down as you go to your grave, right government officials? Shouldn’t all those liberals have criticized those heroes for doing the ‘wrong’ thing? Actually, they touted the fact that one of those who fought back was gay, but that’s another point.
