Banks may not know it, but I know what is in her future.
Not really. People see the gun, won't bother you and you won't have to use it.
It's a kind of preventive tool or tactic to me.
You have a solid point. However; I believe open carry is a good thing for all carry users.
Monks point is perfect and also. It allows us to utilize our wardrobes more effectively, especially in the hot summer months like August. Oklahoma has both and their doing just fine. It’s about time Texas unlocked all options.
Good for Texas...I hope it happens in Florida soon!!
Agreed monk and starless...I would rather not have to use a gun. A concealed firearm is only useful when it’s drawn. An open firearm is useful by it’s presence. You DO have to act differently, be more polite and clean in appearance, and be aware and capable of firearm retention. It actually requires MORE presence of mind and responsibility to open carry. THE GOOD GUYS OPEN CARRY, THE BAD GUYS CONCEAL (kinda like the most transparent administration every).
Florida needs it. It's hard to hide your weapon when you're wearing flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt. You'll look stupid in a coat. I'll still conceal carry I'll just not sweat too much if it shows by accident.
I am okay with open carry as long as it is not used as a rational for ending concealed carry.
Who do the bad guys with guns target first?
The bad guys will first take out those individuals they know could kill them.
Next they kill the defenseless.
If the bad guy does not know who is or is not armed it keeps all people, even those who do not wish to carry more secure.
It is more complicated than that. Open Carry is not just out in public, but can also cover you if your firearm is accidentally seen etc. How would you feel if you were charged for open carry because a bystander accidentally witnessed your sidearm? Or it was seen as you transferred it from one location to another.
In the end, how many open carry advocates have had their firearms taken because they were open carrying?
I favor open carry both for the deterrent aspect and for the simple convenience of it.
If I’m working in my fields, where there are plenty of Rattlesnakes and Copperheads, I wear a pistol on my belt. If I need to make a run to the Feed Store or into town, I’d damned well better remember to take that pistol off of my belt or sure as anything, some local cop is gonna give me crap for it.
If they pass Open Carry, my life gets a little simpler.
NO Monk no disrespect but as much time as I have spent in Afghanistan with orders to play the guessing game ,I would rather know where I stand ,I want to know who has a weapon and who don't, I prefer the latter odds ,my weapon is part of my anatomy and I don't wish to change that . Our streets in this Country are no more safe now than the streets of Bagdad ,Believe It My friend .

eric, bud, if I could give you a hundred thumbs up, I would. That’s just the way I feel, even if the beater was a young girl.

What a lot of police officers don’t realize is that, should they need help, most concealed carriers would come to their aid. I know I would.
Amen to that! I love my fur kids, too. They're my boys and I could never imagine leaving them like that. The guy who did this is rotten IMHO. Poor fur baby. :(
People always dump dogs off in the country. I saw two large grey dogs in a field and both had gotten do thin, I thought they would die. The male protected the female. I put food out for over a week. Finally I left a trail of food for about a mile and they followed. I got them into a fenced area and fed them for a month until they looked well enough to take them to the Humane Society and donated $100 to help them. I already had 4 dogs and couldn't afford any more. Also 12 to 15 cats that show up for food and two birds and 3 horses. I'm maxed out. I've had the birds for about 36 years. They will out live me.
Also when I was an Officer, I saw kittens near a log. I came back and there were 8 kittens. I managed to get them in the patrol car. As I drove down the freeway, they were climbing all over me and the dashboard. People would flag me over and want one. I only had 2 left by the time I got to the animal shelter and a lady in the parking lot took the last two. It was a very good day.
I like you so much, chips1. You’re the kind of person who will never have to wonder if they’re needed.
Chips, many hugs to you for having such a big heart and a generous soul. You're good people, my friend. :)

Love your attitude and your use of curse words, BLEST. Yeah right.
