  • What You Need to Know About Amazon’s New Kindles

    September 12, 2012 at 2:55pm

    In reply to Vietvet1.

    Bought my son a kindle, my wife an ipad. My wife uses the kindle app on the ipad, but I’ve found that there are some advantages to using the kindle device, like the “lending library” where you can read a lot of books for free. I like the e-ink display too. If you are only going to have one, I’d get the ipad, it’s super versatile, but I can’t see having two ipads in the house. I can definitely see everyone having their own kindle.

    So, I’m thinking about getting a paperwhite, but only if it comes in the super large size. Until then, I’ll continue to borrow my son’s kindle or my wife’s ipad!

  • When I sold my iPhone 4 because I had to upgrade to 4S, I used Gazelle. They were convenient, but in hindsight I should have sold on ebay, I would have been able to net at least $50 more per phone.

  • I’m a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney and regularly represent people in uninsured/underinsured motorist claims. On the one hand, I’ll be the first to complain about how most insurance companies (not just Progressive) handle UM claims. On the other, there is definitely a misunderstanding evident in this article about how UM works.

    In a UM claim, your own insurance “steps into the shoes” of the person who you say caused the collision. They have every right to assert any defenses that the third party (the guy who hit you) can make; indeed, they spell this out in detail in their policies. If you can’t settle with them, you have to actually sue your own insurance company in court, as a named defendant. That’s just how it works.

    I’ll stick up for Progressive a bit here and say that in one particular UM case, they paid my client (an elderly lady) $25,000 more than they had to simply because they felt a great degree of compassion for her. The Blaze has one example of them being jerks, I have one example of them being angels. In reality, they are neither, they are just people trying to do their job.

    Often an insurance adjuster will make a tactical decision to offer no more than an amount that makes it difficult for my clients to turn down due to the delay and cost of litigation, though that amount is substantially less than the policy limits. All insurance companies do this to some extent. THAT is what really bugs me. But the scenario of this story? Not

  • One of the worst examples I’ve seen of failure to pay on an uninsured motorist claim is due to Geico. Actually, I’ve not had huge problems with Progressive (which is fairly good at settling third party claims) or (interestingly) Allstate.

  • In a related development, the mammoths’ remains have been registered as Democrats and intend to vote for Barack Obama in the fall.

    Before Global Warming, er, I mean, Man Made Global Climate Change.

  • Does Glenn know ya’ll are leading with this story?

  • She should just use the term “trisexual,” pioneered by Cheech and Chong in the Corsican Bros:

    Louis Corsican” he’s trisexual!
    Lucian Corsican:: Trisexual?
    Louis Corsican: Yeah, he’ll try anything: men, women, goats, chickens, dogs, mud… anything!

  • Who is this chick anyway? The name sounds a bit familiar, but not the face. She looks like a washed-out version of Cameron Diaz (who looks like a washed-out version of Cameron Diaz also).

  • As in Rev. 16:4, for those of you who don’t get it.
