GURUMEDITATION, How do you answer ALL-LIBERTY-IS-LOCAL’s question?

You’re damn right it’s a formalistic attitude. I want clear rules. I don’t want your subjective opinion nor anyone elses determining who is a citizen and who is the enemy.

Good comment. Ideology is the problem. But there is no way to conduct traditional war on ideology. It’s a PR and more importantly culture war. BUT…there should be a long list of orgs who animate the ideology for violence. They should be met with violence.

Thank you. I just want bright line parameters on government power. I want to limit operational gray areas.

That’s why we need to be very specific about the power we grant them. Define the enemy…specifically. Because they are about to get effed with no constitutional protections.

I’m not being the devil’s advocate on this. The war powers of the Constitution allow the executive to set aside constitutional protections for citizens designated as the enemy. So what I should have said is “escape constitutional protections.” This is why – IMO – we need to make the AUMF VERY specific. I don’t think it needs to be repealed. But made very specific to limit gray areas.

I’m from a small town in Texas and have never lived in DC. Do you have any substantive criziticisms of anything I’ve said?

Oh no! You agreed with me!!! Better get some therapy…or at least a shower, right?

Mitt – That’s it…I think he’s cute. You got me pegged.
Perry – The column was damn-near 800 words. Didn’t see room to talk about Perry NOT being there.
Paul – He did well. It was his best performance yet. He’s not right on everything. But he’s right on a lot.

Adam, I thought about that…and didn’t want to make the same mistake. Maybe I did though. Somehow I kind thought these might be more revealing than Coke vs Pepsi. I want to see how well they think on their feet with fact based questions instead of opinion. And I want to see how aware of the world they are. But, it’s possible that it’s all a waste.

Come on…you see it, right? Not that it matters a ton…but Perry isn’t happy, wouldn’t be fun to hang around…like Nixon.
PS – I’m almost in Perry’s camp by default. And you should know this critique comes from 6-7 generation “native” (to use your word) Texan.
We underestimate how much a personality type plays with the public. It’s important.

I’m from Texas. And I’m not so sure.

I agree. As much as I like Christie. There is more to learn about him. It’s funny how many people think we should be “fans” or “cheerleaders” for these guys. Candidates shouldn’t be rooted for like a sports team. It’s a given that we want to oust Obama, but we have to vet these guys first. Don’t you think?

I’m skeptical of Perry too. But he’s benefiting from a lack of competition.

I’ll post it soon. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
