If Jesus isn’t a space traveller, then why’d he ascend into heaven rather than vanish?

Oh, so your god cares more about preserving free will than the lives of children.

I’m not quite sure how one is free when God hangs the threat of eternal damnation over your head your whole life.

If Jesus takes long enough, because of the accelerating expansion of the universe, Jesus won’t be able to travel anywhere in space because he won’t be able to travel faster than the speed of light while space itself is expanding faster than the speed of light.

Best case scenario, Jesus comes back billions of years from now. Jesus, even if traveling near light speed, will take billions of years to reach the end of our universe. However, from Jesus’ frame of reference, because of time dilation, Jesus will be back in a short time. Thus he said he is coming soon. From our frame of reference, Jesus will take billions of years to return so I wouldn’t hold my breath on Jesus coming back in anyone’s lifetime. There won’t be an earth for Jesus to return to.

So your god had a temper tantrum and in a fit of pouting allowed children to be slaughtered?
December 17, 2012 at 7:37pm
Ghandi, speaking of missing appendages, how come your god doesn’t heal amputees?
It’s not a matter of being smart enough to buy a soda but rather being capable of overriding evolutionarily hard coded instincts to consume calorie dense foods.

That’s not discernment. That’s crank conspiracy theorizing. Big difference.

As one who has been on both sides of the religious fence, I’m much happier now than I was as a Christian.
December 15, 2012 at 5:12pm
Except that mass murder happened before your god was supposedly taken out of schools. Your hypothesis does not stand up to scrutiny.
December 15, 2012 at 5:11pm
And what causes a person to allow a bad desire to develop in their heart? And what causes that cause and so on until you reach an unbroken chain of cause and effect stemming from the beginning of the universe. People don’t have the kind of free will you seem to be implying.
December 15, 2012 at 5:08pm
At least you understand your god is a sadistic cosmic dictator.
December 15, 2012 at 5:07pm
Because laws are not based on religion in this country but rather are based on the principle that we ought to protect each other from harm.
December 15, 2012 at 5:06pm
So essentially, your god cares more about the free will of a murderer than the lives of children and the suffering of their parents and others. Go Jesus.

God doesn’t love the little ones. If he did they’d still be alive. Simple.
December 15, 2012 at 1:55pm
Lover of your souls and cosmic torturer of most others.

So according to Bryan Fisher, God is a petulant child. You refuse to play by his rules, say his prayers, read his book, and hang his commandment posters and he takes his toys and goes home. “Screw you guys, I’m going home” God said as he walked off and left a classroom of children to the mercy of the gunman.
