  I dont agree with what the guy did, stealing files, it was clearly illegal. However, the response to his activity was so overboard it is sick. He was supposed to be let go on probation, but then a federal prosecutor took over the case, dragged the case on, and then brought up serious charges against him… the rest is the tragic history.

  Whatever it is, it needs to be looked at. Privatization of prisons needs to go, mandatory minimum sentences needs to go, victimless crime need to be decriminalized… were blowing 35k a year on prisoners, and we have over 2 million of them, 90% for non violent crimes. This “justice” system benefits from sending people to prison, creates jobs for guards, parole officers, private prisons get money depending on how many many inmates they have, its disgusting. It is modern day slavery. Also, it is a double dip for our economy, 35k a year of tax payer dollars, and that person has no opportunity to contribute to the GDP while imprisoned.
