Arrested for stupidity or laziness?
The administrator told them the procedure, so either they don't understand simple instructions or it is too much effort for them to do what everyone else has to do to distribute materials on campus...
LibSocPuppet, Wow, permission must be granted in writing to practice free speech? Sort of means that they can be denied as well.
No one's free speech is being infringed upon unless they were denied the ability to speak...they were merely asked to go through the proper procedure to become a recognized student group to show they belonged on campus...
...do you know what kind of chaos it would be if anyone could go on a campus and just start to hand out any nonsense they wanted?
The first ammendment doesn't apply unless it supports the progressive liberal ideology. Especially in the cesspools that are today's public schools.
In one way, I agree that they should have went through the right channels because they had signs. The first couple weeks of school, all kinds of groups have their little tables out there.
But, I disagree on the idea of free speech being regulated...overly, in this case.
I'm an adult student and see drug dealers all over campus & smell pot on them in the classes. Nobody EVER confronts them. I believe that is a much more detrimental issue than promoting the U.S. Constitution.
LS; Your either missing the point or ignoring it. It isn't that they need to register, though many are concerned over that, it is how she characterized it. "This is a public space, but within our confines we are allowed to choose what can be here.." That implies more than a simple process, but evaluation. The process should be simply informing whomever that; calls for violence, uncivil behavior, or vulgarity is not (always) considered free speech. Hand them the form and off they go. But three days? They're not selling automatic weapons, but espousing the basis for the freedoms we all should be enjoying. By the way, do you have a permit to post here? (yes, in essence we all do) Did it take three days? Was there a value judgment on what you might say because of your affiliations? And wouldn't it have made you angry if the wouldn't let you post because of the screen name or avatar you chose? Get the point now?
They will be allowed to exercise their Constitutional rights...
IF they are approved by the college (which is not the same as being guaranteed them by the Constitution), and...
IF the wait at least three days. "No, you may not exercise your Constitutional rights until after you receive permission following an approved waiting period."
Sorry, but the college is NOT giving them the right to exercise their Constitutional rights: the college is giving them permission -- which means they can also deny them permission -- to exercise their rights.
In plain English, they don't have any rights; they just have permission -- for now.
Freedom delayed is freedom denied.
WOW,Honesty before truth.
That is about the best reasoned statement I have read on here for a while.
Thank you, I was confused before I read what you wrote...no longer.TYVM
Even at a PUBLIC university, the institution has a right to regulate who is on their property. So, if you’re not approved to be there (student group or prior permission from the administration), you are trespassing.
Free speech does not permit intrusion where you are not invited. This is why many protesters are careful to remain on land that is in the “public domain” or at the very least not on the property of the place they are protesting. Cops can’t do squat to a peaceful assembly so long as it is not on private property without permission and not physically impeding the flow of traffic in and out of the business.
This only becomes a story if and when the university DENIES them permission to do this on their property or tries to have them arrested for doing it in the public domain. Right now, the university is well within its legal rights.
A libertarian student group that doesn't respect private property rights? Sure the school is being ridiculous but it's their property, same applies for CC.
I wonder if they keep the preacher who screams at passing students out. My alma matter never did.
There is no such thing as a "libertarian socialist" so I guess the person who goes by that alias is simply a socialist. He/she/it certainly sounds like one. No, you silly person, "right" means "you do NOT have to get permission from the government first". If you have to ask permission, that is called a "privilege" -- and it is NOT the Bill of Privileges.
Yes, there are plenty of government agencies that pretend they are allowed to force you to get permission first. But just because many government agents spit on the Constitution does not make that legal.
/This is what I'm hearing;
On public property, owned by the people, shall have a government employee or board dictate who and who cannot perform any speech on a public sidewalk or area.
Hm.....I've heard of towns having the same language; "you must have approval in order to march or walk upon the sidewalks in a protest. There will be a fee associated with the processing of your request." - all of which where revealed to be ILLEGAL laws. Free speech is just that; if you have a body of government employees that "approve" speech, then it's not free.
To LibertarianSocialist, wouldn't that apply also to all the illegal aliens entering our country? Or how about voter ID laws? Or IRS handling of conservative groups seeking non-profit status? Or sanctuary cities? etc etc etc.

“They don’t realize how the grassroots have abandoned them”. It’s the other way around Frank.
This still isnt an excuse for us to vote for a progressive because he speaks his mind though. Come on people.
 August 25, 2015 at 6:03pm
Nah Beck didnt like progressives then and he doesnt now either. Trump is just exposing those of you that are progressives cloaked in the freedom movement.
 August 25, 2015 at 6:01pm
Hard questions were asked to them all but Trump is obviously the one with thin skin.
So we should take in anyone on this planet who might get killed or threatened by the government they were born into? We don't have the room or the money to pay for it. I would give them money to buy weapons though.

Nah i see hate. People are dont give a **** about Christians being slaughtered as long as its over the ocean somewhere else. Lots of people also misunderstanding as well thinking Glenn wants to walk illegals over the border…
 August 21, 2015 at 3:01pm
These are people are being refused entry by this administration because they are Christians. He wants to walk them into the country to get them away from ISIS. Also a jab at Obama for how open our borders are. If that’s crazy then i guess you can count me crazy.
yogy, don't we have enough problems with "people" walking across the border without Beck adding to it? DLV is correct, give them temporary asylum, find out who they truly are, THEN left the apply for full asylum.
Wrong border try this one almost no one watching it hell i even know a building that could temporarily hold some of them hey we are bringing thousands of muslims over here why not Christians
Can anyone cite the exact policy or instances of when these people have been denied entry?
Are they being denied entry because they are Christian? Beck and Moore make the claim, but offer nothing to support it.
When it comes to the lives of people asking to come in because they are going to be beheaded.. Glenn is acting saintly and I will be with him in the matter. It can be temporary or permanently, I don't care..
At this point if they can show they are Christians from a region under threat from ISIS, I'd say that's sufficient proof.
Hint, if the men aren't circumcised, we can infer they're likely not Muslim.
I too would like to see the rationale for refusing them entry.

never had a problem on theblaze, but then again im in my 20′s and know how computers work…
I dont understand how supposedly conservative/libertarian commenters here are fully behind the leftist Trump. The guy likes single payer !!!!!! Constantly flip flops on the issues, doesn’t have a humble bone in his body, and this is the guy that will bring sanity back to the country in your mind….
Last time we were told to vote for Romney, even though he was for the same sort of thing as this.

I’m tired of these morons questioning whether an officer could have used mace or a stun gun after an obviously good shoot. This is the kind of crap that happens when a country forgets how to think for itself.
Here's a thought - don't bum-rush an officer and attack him with a deadly weapon, and maybe, just maybe you won't get yourself a new set of airways!
I don't care if you're drunk or not - you're still responsible to NOT attempt to kill other humans.. assuming there's nothing more to the story, that officer was fully justified.
You ever think that the officer that now has to live with killing this man for the rest of his life, might have a different viewpoint than a bunch of billy bada$$ armchair quarterbacks BS'ing on a website?
That is why I advocated for him using his tazer in my post below...not out of any love for lowlife perps that attack officers.
I thought the job of police was to resolve any situation with the least amount of force possible.
Deadly force should never be the go to.
Let’s see… man comes after you to hit, beat, and possibly kill you with a blunt object. You tell him repeatedly to put the blunt object down. He doesn’t listen to you. Then he gets shot. Sad the man was killed, but I see no issue here for the LEO.
Lessons here... listen to what LEO's tell you to do, don't attack them, and act in a civilized and respectable manner.
Hey, he was unarmed they will say. Yeah, a huge club.

I guess im the only christian who thinks it is wrong to mess to a companies property just because you disagree with it.
What was she disagreeing with? She was helping save some souls.Try it you'll find your name in the book of life.Really what was she disagreeing with ?. Try and be on her side.Ever got a speeding ticket?. Ever drank in excess?...Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

What stupid statement. These people doing the damage and looting aren’t from ferguson. Only a handful of the dozens arrested were ferguson citizens. On the worse night none of the over thirty arrested were from ferguson. If thugs from neighboring communities and from around the country came into your town would you have the same stance?
You know nothing about this community except for what you have seen this last week. Please keep your uneducated opinions to yourself. The people of ferguson had almost no part in this.
 August 14, 2014 at 12:06am
Most of the police there aren’t ferguson police right now. Ive seen lots of St. Charles and St. Louis county officers there with all the military toys. I doubt Ferguson police have many of those things. Ferguson is a relatively small community.
 August 14, 2014 at 12:03am
I live about 10 miles from that area. I dont believe the people of ferguson are the problem. Ferguson has always been a place Ive been comfortable and felt safe in when I visit. I think the few that are really causing the problem have come in from the St. Louis city and neighboring communities because they want a fight.

Looks like this happened within the last hour. Im sure the video is coming.
